Time to ditch F1 and support other motor racing...

I can see next year I'll be getting my motor racing fix elsewhere. Screw Bernie and Murdoch.

So suggestions of live televised races, or motorsport events worth having a family day out to? Could be in the UK or Europe. Name your favorite racing series to get into and support...

BTCC days are good and have loads of races in the day (3*BTCC + loads of support races).

I've heard the Blancpain Endurance Series is racing at Silverstone in october.
I'm hopefully going to get down there.

Also the 1000 km of Silverstone if you like Le Mans Prototypes.

I love formula one too much to Ditch it though
Still have a few sneaky means of getting the feed without any money to sky

Why ditch F1? I think it's great. Just means I have to adapt to watch it is all.

Absolutely - there's more to Motorsport than F1!! The sooner people realise this the better - including the media, who only recognise F1.
WRC, MotoGP, Le Mans Series, ALMS, GT1, Blancpain Endurance Series, WTCC, DTM, BTCC, WSBK, BSB, MX GP, Enduro World Championship, hell, even Nascar, etc

I think its quite pathetic hearing all the so called fans of the sport on here jumping ship because change is ahead. Yes it sucks, I'm not happy either but I can't switch off my love for the sport. I'll continue to go to races when I can and if I didn't already have SS I'd watch half the races on the beeb and find a feed on the net for the other half.

Before I sacked Sky at the start of this year (£60 for HD pash!) I loved the Aussie V8 Supercars on Motors TV.. including the legendary Bathhurst 1000..

LMS/ILMC hear hear and the cars look much better than F1 and the prices of entrance..... average €25 with grandstands for the whole week end... (bought my tickets for Silverstone at Le Mans for €22)

Can I suggest your local club racing series - seriously, if you've never seen a one-make Legends/Fiesta/etc race series then you are missing out - usually a packed day of about 14 races per day, lots of rubbing/pushing/crashing/spinning and all that good stuff from guys who aren't afraid to dent and race as hard as it gets. It may not be fast, but to be honest the dullest racing I've ever seen live is F1.

If you're wanting something to watch on the TV, then ALMS is hard to beat, aussie V8s are always good entertainmena, as is the Porsche Carrera cup and supercup (c'mon sean)

I'm all for this. I love GT Racing, the idea of Supercars battling it out on the world's best circuits.

WTCC, DTM all need promotion. Honestly F1 has now sold it's soul with the Sky Sports thing.

We should start other racing formulas "Official threads", but the problem is alot of racing is on pay per view TV (motors tv etc) and not widely available. It;s frustrating.

Not sure about ditch, but certainly promote others.

Have a read of this forum, the none F1 threads are full of people whinging that sport x was better 30 years ago when they last watched it.

Can't see why we can't enjoy everything. I still love F1 but go to 25 race meetings a year of all kinds. I'm not fussed if it's club racing, rallycross, historics, endurance, hillclimbing, saloons, single seaters...if there are four wheels then it works for me.

Plus when you get back from your day at the track you can watch the Grand Prix which you recorded earlier. Win in every possible direction.

Go and get involved, get a rwd and head to your nearest drift day, Norfolk arena is £40/day and buxton is £10/day. You'll not have more fun in a standard car with your clothes on

BTCC and F1 are the main motorsport I watch. The only reason I don't watch other motorsport is that you have to have a Sky subscription to watch them

can you get motorstv or eurosport on freesat? both have loads of good racing, in fact so does ITV4
