Red Victor Is Back (Almost)

RV3 in happier times

Those of you following the progress of the PH-supported Red Victor 3 (the world's first street legal, NHRA/FIA pro-modified car), will remember that our favourite 3000bhp-plus Vauxhall suffered the most unpleasant of engine catastrophes back in May.

But after popping a camshaft (and causing severe internal damage to its 8.8-litre twin-turbocharged General Motors V8), RV3 is almost back to full health, and is set to wow the crowds at the FIA European Championship Drag Racing finals at Santa Pod on 8-11 September.

We're no mechanics, but we know that's bad

"The engine has had very special attention this time," says Andy Frost, Red Victor 3's owner/driver. "The measuring alone took two weeks to complete! Every component was checked and double checked to make sure it was correctly sized for our application, although in fairness (almost) everything was right the first time...

"All the little bits that needed doing are done now, like finishing the paintwork and fixing some aero issues. We're just waiting for the engine to be finished off so we can run it up on the dyno at Knight Racing Services."

All better now...

Andy and the whole RV3 team are itching to get back on track now (something they couldn't have managed without the help and support of an army of PHers). So do head along to Santa Pod next weekend to cheer 'em on.
