As the title really...
Just wondering if anyone on here is venturing to Brands at the weekend for the DTM?

This is also a slightly shameless plug as we're racing in Lotus Cup UK in the Europa, which is immediately after the main event on Sunday.
If anyone is there and has a paddock pass, feel free to come and say hi, the kettle is always on!

Cheers,
Matt

Hoping to be along on Sunday and will drop by to say hello.

First time to a race meeting at Brands so any top tips? Will there still be grandstand tickets available on the gate or do these usually sell-out in advance?

Cheers, Dave

Stands are not usually that busy and you can as far as i know buy tickets either on the gate or at the megastore.
Best place to watch is in the middle up at druids, v8 surround sound!

Heading down on Sunday via the Masters event at Donington on Saturday. Always a good event though FFord and Elise Trophy stole the show last year for pure racing. Will stop by to check out the Europa. Grabbed this shot at Donington a couple of weeks ago...

I will also be there both Saturday and Sunday.

Not sure if the island at the top of Druids will be open though as I had heard rumours that this was going to be closed.

Saturday is photo day then in the Paddock Hill grandstand of Sunday for the main event.

Do we need tickets for the lower paddock then as this is normally free access??

Island was closed last weekend as they were doing some kind of repairs/maintenance...

Oh gods I hope there are not putting the high fencing up then that was rumoured earlier in the year to satisfy the FIA health and safety fairies.

I had an odd feeling this was going to happen for the DTM.

Taken away some of the best photo op's anywhere in motor sport.

Ho hum, oh well out comes the long lens then

Went last year.

Had a good time...thought the actual DTM race was a bit boring. The indy circuit at Brands doesn't really suit these cars well.....they really should be using the GP circuit.

The Lotus & Porsche races were great though.

The good thing about Brands is that you can see the whole circuit.....not just a few corners!

I never understood the use of the short circuit either, although this is now a moot point as as the race is going to Donnington next year (present poor organisation their allowing).

My only reason for not them not using it would have been the long term safety concerns following some very serious accidents on the GP circuit a few years ago. i.e Seat Eurocup 2010 but I am clutching at straws.

If they can't use the full GP circuit, then the DTM should go to Donington/ Silverstone - put them on a track were they stretch their legs, instead of a Mickey mouse circuit...

DTM/ITC at Donington has traditionally been good fun and it's 150 miles nearer to home which helps. Last year's DTM race wasn't fantastic but intiguing watching Miguel Molina move up the field with a different pit strategy and great to cheer on Paul di Resta to a final home win before his F1 career started. The support races easily made the trip worthwhile.

Well at least at the moment Donnington has got it, I agree I am a little surprised that Silverstone has not hosted it maybe there are looking at short term deals and maybe rotating the circuits, who knows
