Can I race in any series at the age of 16?

Hi, I've done a little bit of rooting around on the Internet, and to be honest i can't really find anything about this.

I'm 16 and would really like to get involved in any type of racing, but I have no idea how to go about it, I know i could race karts but thats all I know I can race, I wasn't really sure if there was anything I could race or not, so I thought I would ask you guys on here.

I reckon you can do any series from 16 subject to having the correct licence. Formula BMW and Junior Ginetta I'm almost certain will take 16 year olds.

Karting wise there will be things you could probably do without a licence such as Club100, Daytona Max or British Rental Kart Championship.

Fomula bmw doesn't excsit anymore the cars are used in the intersteps series i believe. The juniors are the main series for youngster to start racing cars you can start at 15 i believe allthough it supports the btcc and cost are high not sure on cost but you looking at £50,000+ More cost effect series are the 750mc sax max series for 16-18 year olds i would say around £5000-10,000 to be competitive. There are other series out there but not sure on them contact your local motor racing club to see what you can get into. Other series you can get into are autograss racing, autotest very cheap to go racing.

With the amount of bits that are broken on even the currently-modest fields at the moment, I'd say more would be needed to keep it nice and fresh

Mighty minis, all ages race but there are a lot of young guys on the grid. Not expensive either.

At 16 you can attain a national b race licence and race with adults or get a junior nat b and race in saxmax / ginetta jr

Once you race in an adult race you are not eligible to hold a junior license.

So you can race pretty much anything you like.

This is certainly how it was the last time I looked. The MSA website should have full info though.

If cost is a factor, Grasstrack has categories for kids as young as 12 and is cheap as chips. There's a club that runs near me (near Maldon) that will hire you a car and give you a four heat race meet for about £250 - £300.

You can race in Rallycross at 16, there is Junior Rallycross, which caters for 14 to 17 year old, or you can race in any class from 16 years old.
