Cant post a link as I'm on my phone, but this seems like an interesting move?

I thought he was going to Virgin Racing. Strange choice for McLaren, hardly got a track record of success has he.

Laying on the corporate speak pretty early!

It doesn't sound like quite as high position as he'd had at Williams.

I think that Michael had too many responsibilities and too little power at Williams. This might just about be the right level for him to do what he is good at and leave behind what he is not good at.

Still ot sure I would have hired him if I were at McLaren.

He's just there to make things work trackside. Does he have a track record of good strategy calls and running the pits?

Whatever the job is it seems clear he's not in an engineering position.

Sporting director? I hope they're planning to start a ping pong team for him to oversee or something.

quite a few people seem to think he was massively over worked at Williams and all had a lot of time for him. Whilst I have my reservations Mclaren are not thick and wouldn't employ someone who is totally useless.

I agree. How many people have Williams since employed to do SM work?

Hopefully nothing more than a toilet cleaner or the Woking boys may have problems next year.

Sporting Director was Dave (Von) Ryans job. The one who got the bullet after he "told" Hamilton to tell fibbs.

Maybe they are going to get him to deal with the stewards when Lewis drops another bk. Which will no doubt give rise to the expression "Hey Sam, whats that brown stuff on your tounge?"

That's McLaren consigned to the midfield / back of the grid then.

Button, if you've got an offer from Ferrari on the table then for the love of God take it!

Yeah I don't understand this one, having said that maybe McLaren know something about SM that we don't.

Sadly until proved otherwise i'm not sure that this is a smart move.
