Well, an email allowing me to request a ticket for the viewing at Thorney Motorsport.

I think all members of VXROnline might have had one from Thorney.

Being unveiled to the public on the 8th of October i think (or the 10th i cant remember now).

Hopefully a decent looking BTCC car compared to the current crop of stuff.

Yeah I got one too.

Wonder who is actually going to run the car, from what I understand last time he looked at BTCC an approach was made to 888 to run the car for him - mostly for personnel I think.

Run the car as in drive?

Or run the car as in support/technical team? I believe this time Thorney will be running the whole thing. Hence the new R&D/Motorsport centre. Not sure on driver though.

888 stated building and preparing the insgnia shell a few years ago but this was at the same time as vauxhall withdrew. The shells i believe were brought by thronley and are build the car i think they are using niel brown engines that team dynamics use. No word yet on drivers though. Good luck to them nice to see new teams entering and more support for the btcc and if everyone turns up next year with turbo all the parity issues will be gone well hopefully anyway.

I thought you had to use an engine from the manufacturer of the shell OR the TOCA Spec engine which is a Swindon (Vauxhall) unit IIRC. I don't think that you can use a Neil Brown Honda engine in an Insignia. I'm prepared to be proven wrong, though!

Pretty sure you're right. I've heard and possibly read somewhere they'll be using the TOCA engine.

Is it possible although Neil Brown Engines built the Honda touring car engines they could also turn their hand to Vauxhall lumps...?

I was under the impression the TOCA engine is, essentially, a Vauxhall engine. Pretty sure its XE/LET based?

I read somewhere its based on a direct injection engine, basically the replacement for the LEH. I'm not sure but I think its the engine you'd find in a Pontiac Solstice, a derivative of which will be found in the next astra vxr (allegedly).

The Chevys run XE based engines I believe.

Well the car has been reliased and well it looks different to anything ive seen before but it looks like this will not be the livery at the final. The car will use a toca engine for the final but next year the team wants to build there own engines. This means a 30 car grid for silverstone if all cars turn up the biggest since the 2.0ltr era begun.

Report on the btcc website.
