Sad really as every brummie I know that is old enough to remember it remembers it fondly and would love to see it again.
To get the Birmingham Road Race Bill through parliament a break clause was written into it meaning that the event had to turn a profit within 5 years... It didn’t so bye bye Super Prix. The politics surrounding the event are mind boggling, really makes you wonder how anything gets done. Superprix: The Story of Birmingham's Motor Race in the Those Were the Days Series of books is well worth a read.
I'm sure if it had continued as a round of the BTCC into the 90's it would have been massive. Imaging that!
As for a return, FORGET IT... Birmingham is no longer the UK's motorcity and lets face it the green lobby would have a field day.

Closing the road is simple. Suspending the road traffic act is not. It requires an act of Parliament.That's the difference.

Ladywood for those unaware is in Brum,im old enough to remember the super prix years,but doubt anywhere in the uk would ever be able to run that type of event again,as stated the green element in the powers that be would veto it in an instant.
