Just checked the odds for the 2012 F1 Drivers Championship.
No surprises really but Vettel surely not good value at a paltry Even Money:~

On current form it's got to be vettel. Unless ferrari and mclaren get their act together or red bull designs a s
t car i can't see anything else than a 3rd vettel wdc. To be honest only 1 other driver in a top team has shown speed and thats button. Massa, hamilton and webber have been no where there needs to be driver changes.
Webber after a good year last year his race pace is so poor a more deserving driver should be in that car.
Massa well since his crash he hasn't been the same since and with a clear no 2 at ferrari he needs to go.
Hamilton what can i say, on paper he should be walking all over button but he's got to hot headed way to agressive he needs to calm down, stay out of the lime light and get back to getting on with racing instead of the lifestyle he has had this year mayby with nicole gone he can concentrate on being a f1 driver. Oh and he needs to stop acting like a petulant child he is becoming like plato.
I can't for a life of me why some people on here still don't rate vettel. Quite so. Some folks are slower to observe and learn than others whilst there are those that will never be prepared to accept that just maybe, they've got it wrong with their judgement. There was a time that I was very guilty of that and would stand my ground, wrongly until the bitter end. Was a long time ago though when I was much younger and slower to learn.
Those that do not rate Vettel do so for the same reason why some folks also over rate other relatively lesser drivers. Relative because I am of the opinion that given the 'right' car, most of those 24 drivers on the modern F1 start grid would be at the sharp end with the right kit. Most is not all. There are one or two consistently exceptional talents on the grid and the results simply confirm this now that most cars are so very reliable. That was not always the case and in the past, car failure has often had the final say to stop the more talented to achieve.
In the same way as those who once stated Button can only deliver when conditions are adverse. Clueless consumers of the media hype although what they could be saying is simply that: When the going gets tough.... you know the rest or should do.
.I believe Vettel to be an exceptional talent. I hope one day soon he has a mishap or car bad luck in qualifying so has to start mid field or lower. That will be sehr interessiert...
That's what happens to the old man of the track quite frequently during qualifying and then we have added interest.
True talent and class is permanent. Form can be transient.
Just about the most impressive on car footage I've seen for most of my lifelong interest in Motor Racing was that of Schumacher earlier this year when he started at the back of the grid. So good I watched it about five times on the bounce. Something I rarely do but, I enjoyed every repeat showing. Then sad to report when I went to view it again, it was withdrawn and no longer available to view.
I believe Vettel is an exceptional talent. Those that say it's simply his car might just as well say the same about Hamilton back when he was more successful. It is not simply the car although that always plays a major part with any success.
In a month or so, we will have a whole three months without any F1 action ...
... I'm getting withdrawal symptoms already.

Vettel can win it, but if Merc / Ferrari or McL start 2012 with a car that's the same or better pace than RB (they're hardly lacking tallent or resources ether) then it's by no means a 1 horse race, I fancy Alonso, Hamilton and Button are better drivers than Vettel (like kettle)
I'm backing LH, an off-season re-focus, new car, no liggers or Shersingwhatever. If he starts 2012 with a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye he's going to be flying again and not just into Massa. (huge LH fan with typical blinkered view).

But he is a great Driver no question but i suppose its alot easier when the car is that fast, Rindt in Lotus 72, Andretti lotus 78, Lauda , Prost and Senna in the dominent Mclaren years and our Nige blowing every one away in the Williams.
Regarding breaking records it is far easier these days with far more gps a year, different scoring system etc.
I dont think any one will beat Michaels WC record as Vettle will be judged when he has a competive team mate, Jenson?
or he wins the title in a second rate car aka Prost turbo Mac or Michael in the Benneton.
One thing for sure it will be fun watching Seb try and i hope some one can truly push him in the last 2 GPs just to see how fast he can really go as there is def a bit of sand bagging at the mo as the fastest lap at the end of each race prooves

Whilst WHill only going 1-2 places but @ 1/3rd the odds.Schumacher's odds may lengthen considerably if early reports about the 2012 Mercedes-GP are negative... unlikely .. if positive, the odds will shorten.
Long way to go yet.
Don't forget there's a ban on exhaust blown diffusers next year which RB are the masters of. I can't see Ferrari challenging, but maybe McLaren can hit the ground running this time without faffing around with that weird octopus blown diffuser they had this year in testing.

What rule change is that? Genuine question. The only major one I'm aware of is the fixed exit points for exhaust on top of the engine cover so it'll all be about maximising downforce off the beam wing I'd imagine.Vettel will walk it.

Looking back, I think it would be a fairly bad idea to back Lewis. He's never had a good season: he's always made mistakes that have cost him the title, except once, where partially by luck (glock's poor drive out of the corner) he just got it at the last moment possible. Had he been better than year he could have wrapped it up sooner. Vettel on the other hand was let down by a team who didn't pick up on new technology in 2009 and even though he nearly didn't win it last year, he has learnt from his mistakes and is considerably better than he was last year.Vettel can win it, but if Merc / Ferrari or McL start 2012 with a car that's the same or better pace than RB (they're hardly lacking tallent or resources ether) then it's by no means a 1 horse race, I fancy Alonso, Hamilton and Button are better drivers than Vettel (like kettle)

I think Lewis needs to make some huge changes before he can compete with Vettel, even if the cars are similar for pace.
