Ghastly crash. Absolutely terrible track safety and dismal driver conduct (speeding full pelt into a dust cloud).
There have been a lot of complaints about how F1 and modern racing in general, have become too risk free. I'd much rather lose a bit of spectacle than witness crashes like this.
RIP to the driver, Guido Falaschi, killed in the crash (green and black car).

I assumed that it was the repeated impacts that did the damage, but I did wonder if it was an equipment failure or something else.

I can think of a few recent crashes in Europe that have exhibited equally poor driving standards and questionable track safety, so I don't think it's fair to try and make it a "damn third world motorsport!" thread, which some seem to want to.
How about the Belgian GP when Mad Davie lost it on a manhole cover on the run down from La Source on the 1st lap. From the camera angle looking up the hill you had to wonder what the guys in the midfield, & back of the field were looking at, or where they thought they were going. . . Oh OK, it was the spray, so . .any difference spray/smoke ? nope, if you can't see where you are going expect the unexpected.
Very similar to Mark Porter's crash at Bathurst a couple of years ago.
Horrible. The whole thing does look very amateurish, when I opened the link I thought it was from the early 80s at first. However I don't think anything much could have saved a crash like that from being very nasty. It appears the other driver is slowing down, but as far as I can see from the video it's a very fast and unsighted part of the circuit,
