RE: Remembering Richard Burns
Friday 25th November 2011

Six years ago today, the world of rallying lost one of its greatest sons to a brain tumour. But the memory of the late, great Richard Burns lives on. Not least because he was the first (and so far only) English World Rally Champion (which he achieved a decade ago this year).
Remembering Richard Burns
Rally legend lost his battle with cancer six years ago today - we remember him like this

But Burnsy is also remembered in the great work of the Richard Burns Foundation, which was set-up following his untimely death.
And of course, it's a pretty fine idea to remember him this way... and if you've got an RB5 or RB320 and you're reading this. Go grab the keys and take it for a thorough run-out. It's what Richard would have wanted...

Thank you PH, can we get #Burnsie http://www.richardburnsfoundation.com/ trending on twitter?
I was walking from the carpark into the entrance of the BUPA hosptial in Cardiff all those years ago when I looked up and Richard came past me in the opposite direction, at that time it had not come out about his fight with the disease and I did wonder why he was there. It was when the Rally was on in Wales, and I believe it came out soon after about his condition, very sad times as he was so young.

Yep, always brings a lump to my throat as 6mths later a friend of mine died of the same condition... Same age too.
RIP
My sincere condolences.
RIP
Awful that nature is completely indiscriminate. And at no age, too. (Not that anyone 'deserves' to be taken in such a horrible manner... at ANY age).

Wow, can't believe it has been 6 years. I remember the day well, 15 years old, knew full well who he was, was in the car with my dad driving home from the barbers when my best mate text me the news. Felt really sad, but at the age of 15 the best tribute I could manage was firing up Richard Burns Rally on the PS2 and blast through the UK stages in a Subaru
