Tell me about the S'Stone 24hrs please!

Right then chaps,
I'm after a bit of advice on the above please.
Getting married later this year (November/December) and am trying to sort a stag-doo.
I'm not into going to European cities and getting lashed/lap dancing etc. so fancy doing something a bit different.
Have been to Le Mans a couple of times but never managed to get to the Britcar as its always clashed with something else. Having also been to Silverstone more times than I can remember I'm pretty sure there's a bar at the circuit and a couple of pubs in the village to keep a few of my mates happy.....
Whats the deal with camping etc? - is this inside the circuit or do you have to use Whittlebury Hall and some tf the other sites? Need it to be within walking distance.
what else is there going on around the circuit during the event? Do they still have the karting etc.?
And final question for now) whats the provisional date for this year?

Having been to this event a few times now I have to say it is awesome, the pub in the track stays open until around Midnight and camping you can get inside the track. Not sure when it is on this year but have you ever thought about the Ring 24 Hour, which is in May this year and also has British GT as a suport race? 250,000 people and it parties all night long, just like Le Mans!
So last year was only my 2nd time at the 24Hr race....I can honestly say it's now a real highlight of the season for me (and I get to quite a few different races during the season). It's great racing, the event itself has a real carnival atmosphere and the access all areas is unique.
For those that don't know, the date is now confirmed for 21-23 Sept, so a week earlier than last year. I think Mr Tucker had to sell one of his kidneys to get the Silverstone parish council to back down from their blocking for running this years event.

Hi FYI the 24 hr offer pre bookable pitches inside the circuit normally around the back of old start line.More details will appear on the britcar website in due course. The Old pit lane is the one used for this event not the new wing. In the center normally a packed area with small fun fair, trade mall and static displays. Full access is allowed to the back of all the pit grages. On firday normally we open the pitlane for a public pit walk around the end of day racing and quli till 24hr night quli starts. Normally around 2 hr gap for this.
On sat pre 24hr start a free public grid walk is arranged with various little displays, music and air displays before the race start. Teams are normally also very approchable pre race and happy to chat and even show people round their trust steeds. The events is also supported by numerous suport race on both friday and saturday before the big race starts.

Seriously interested in attending this, but...Is it 21-23 Sep, or 28-30 Sep, as advertised on Marcosforums They also state decision won't be made until this Friday?!?
Help?%*? Wouldn't want to plan for the wrong weekened!!

Never been to a night race before so looking forward to this.
I'd love to be able to get in/above the pits to get some closeup pictures, especially as it starts to darken.
Is the only camping option inside the track? Can see it being cramped/noisey?!? Does anyone know if Whittlebury or Litchlake are open for this event, before I go investigating?
Has the OP sorted anything out yet?

Excellent, if a tad crowded!!Is there an itinerary for the weekend, times wise? I'm gonna be camping, hopefully, and would like to know what's happening when. Probably not looking in the right places but can't find itin for last year.

Sorry, showing my ignorance for Britcar but is there quali for the main race?

This year there was qually for all support races up to 11-30 ish followed by 3 or 4 races up to Brit are day qually at 12-45. Then the remainder of support races until 2 qually sessions for Alfas and sports 2000 only racing on sat. At 6-8pm a pits walkabout followed by night qually for britcar.
Sat was racing all the way through apart from the warm up for britcar and the 24 hrs started at 4-30.

Gives me enough info to work out what happens and when.
So if we're not trackside the crack of dawn on Friday we'll probably only miss support qually. Can live with that. The only campsite I've heard mentioned is infield camping - will it be packed come Thursday night? Were Whittlebury and Litchlake open last year? I've emailed them but am yet to receive a reply.

I was a first timer last year but it was a great event - the weather helped a lot (T-Shirt weather in October) and I have happy memories of standing on the top deck of the double decker bus with a pint in my hand. The pit access and the good will of the teams absolutely makes it though.
I didn't camp at the circuit but went to a nearby town for Beer, Curry and a warm bed - we had not anticipated the fine weather.
So this year I have got my tickets and I'll still book the Hotel but I'll have a sleeping bag in the car should I wish to remain at the circuit. If the weather is exceptional I'll grab a few hours kip in the car park but if it's toilet I'll head for the Hotel...
