Is it me or ever since Damon Hill was announced as a Sky pundit he has taken upon himself to pass judgement on everything and everyone in F1?

I have nothing against the guy, but he's not really giving any great insight, just stating the bleeding obvious most of the time. Come on Damon, wind your neck in please.

That will be a Sky F1 PR push. It will be in his contract that he has to provide 'analysis' for x number of press releases pre-season to make sure EVERYONE KNOWS THAT SKY HAS SIGNED DAMON HILL. DAMON HILL IS WORKING FOR SKY. YOU KNOW DAMON HILL? YEAH? HE'S WORKING FOR SKY AND CAN FORM OPINIONS.

SKY.

DAMON HILL.

SIGNED.

SKY.

DAMON.

(but yeah, you're right.)

I saw him at our local circuit, Castle Combe last year.
I didn't speak to him myself, but he was happy to talk with just about anyone who went up to him. Struck me as being a decent chap.

Massively decent chap. When I worked at Crash.net I was sitting outside the office on the phone and he walked past me - I stopped him (sort of. A bit rude) but he was a top bloke; very friendly and happy to sign a mate's hastily grabbed Autocourse.

He's still a double world champ in my eyes.

Only one of those articles mentions him being a sky pundit. Maybe people are asking his opinion more now he is going to be working with sky F1? Who knows. Seems a rather piss poor complaint though.

As a childhood hero of mine, Damon Hill can do and say as he pleases as far as I am concerned.

I am aware that this is sad and short sighted of me. But I choose to proceed with my opinion smile

As you'll note from a few other comments, your faith is well founded in that regard.

He might not always be right but there is little or no side to the man and don't ever think that because he's a 'nice guy' there isn't a core of steel in there.

At Monaco when he was driving for Arrows, my sister managed to get in the pits (?) over the fence. He was decent enough to take photos & have his taken with my sister, before she was ushered off. Top bloke.

At Brands Hatch in 1 of the shops they have/had a battled, Williams nosecone with the number 0 on it. He refuses to sign it in case of any profiteering. Cad.

This.

He was my first hero in Formula One, my first year of being truly into it was as a four year old in 94.

Glad to hear he's a top bloke.

The only contentious bit of this post is where you say you worked for crash.net.

You didn't write their copy did you? wink

Agree to all. Even though he was a double world champ for both seasons. the car iirc compared to its rivals was like red bull these last 2 seasons.

He showed his true qualities in '97 when he put that stbox of an Arrows in places it just shouldn't have been.

He is referring to the suspiciously feisty manauvere in Australia. On top of that, he would have been champ with today's points system anyway.

It's an acknowledgment that Schuey was 'dodgy'

Well, the thread certainly shows that it's worth paying for a 'celeb'.

Did someone say Sky?

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
