I think that Sauber looks great! The nose doesn't seem an issue on it.
Not a bad looking car - but think the fact that the nose is dark helps hide the step abit.Can't work out why some teams have gone for a 'flat angle' and others have sculpted the area (Caterham & Lotus).
Be intersting to see what Mr Newey has come up with!

Correct me if im wrong but the Ferrari nose finishes where it joins the rear wing whereas this has a large overhang. Also the side pods are pretty different. Still pretty fugly though.As for the sculpted horns / rails are a ploy to reduce the cross sectional area of the nose cone. Bit of a cheeky rule exploit.

The Mclaren nose has always been low compared to the other cars in previous years, with this years rules it seems they haven't had to adapt the height in anyway so haven't really had to change the design. I'm surprised more teams haven't gone for the Mclaren approach to be honest.DanDC5 said:

Do the other teams get more air under the car and this feeds the diffuser better?! Mclaren are obviously trading this airflow for something....so what benefits do they get?

Lower CoG and better front suspension geometry are the main two benefits. As said elsewhere, Mclaren used the same low chassis/nose philosophy last year when they could have had a high tub AND a high nose (as opposed to high tub/lower nose this year) yet they still had a fast car. The new regulations mean the high nose/tub concept becomes more compromised so I can't see Mclaren losing out, its just that their low chassis design philosophy is more obviously different now that the others have had to drop their noses.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
