yikes I'd not like to see that crash happen at the pod, it'd be coming very close to spectators..

I presume he was okay ?

He was fine, got out the car under his own power.

Just shows the safety stuff works.

I know you really can't legislate for that sort of thing, but no impact protection in front on the scoreboard?

Man I miss seeing Top Fuel cars live - lived in Phoenix for three years and went to several of the NHRA events there. Those clips bring the sheer noise and, for want of a better word, violence of those cars flooding back !!

Thanks for posting smile

Well, you could always pay a visit to Santa Pod:

6-9 April: Auto Trader Easter Thunderball
1-4 June: FIA Main Event
6-9 September: FIA European Finals

Fuel cars at all of those.

"You takes your chances."

Not saying it's right but I suppose that's the way they do things there.

I could, but I'm currently working in Malaysia so it's a bit of a trek wink

Actually my first experience of a Top Fuel car was at Santa Pod when I went along to a RWYB day years ago - they allowed a Top Fuel car to do a run for testing purposes - lady driver, Viveca Averstedt. The sheer noise and vibration was unlike anything I'd experienced before - it wasnn't just noise, but the vibrations seemed to go right through your internal organs too !!! Awesome stuff !!
