New to sprinting... probably stupid questions
Discussion
Morning,
I'm picking up my new car this weekend and although I haven't got it yet I'm looking to do a fair number of track days this spring to get familiar with it and then want to do some sprinting/hill-climbing.
I've found a load of information on what helmet/clothing I need and the fact that I just need a national b license (although any additional links would be gratefully received) but can any one tell me what class my car would be in please? It's a SSC Stylus kit car with a Mazda 13B Turbo rotary engine. Is this classed as a 1300 or a 2600 and therefore looking at this page... http://www.gurstondown.org/records.htm (don't worry, I'm under no illusions about getting anywhere near those times)... would I be in "Modified Limited Production Sports Cars up to 1400 cc" or "Modified Limited Production Sports Cars over 2000 cc"?
Many thanks,
Mark

MSA Blue Book states:
10.3.2. Rotary engine equivalence 1.5. Forced
induction rotary equivalence (1.4 x 1.5) = 2.1.
So for a turbo 1300 X 2.1 = 2730cc (is it exactly 1300?)
So for Gurston, you'd likely to be in "Modified Limited Production Sports Cars over 2000 cc." Although need to check all other regulations..

Thanks Dan.
I don't know about the exact engine capacity as it's a rotary and the details on how it's measured seems a little confusing. I'll look in to it more and then apply the formula you've supplied.
The car is road legal (MOT, Tax etc) and has road legal track oriented tyres fitted.
Many thanks,
Mark

Are you committed to the Gurston championship? Perhaps have a think about other series (which run at Gurston also) as your car sounds more suited to a road modified class. The Gurston series class contenders will be on slicks..
Championships which may suit include ACSMC, ASWMC, HSA and Midland Speed series.
