How Will You Watch F1 This Year?

Back in November after the announcement of the Sky F1 channel I did a poll to see how we all intended to watch F1 this year. So now the season approaches it seems an appropriate time to post the poll again and it will be interesting to see how the results compare. See how many have got Sky for the Channel etc.

So how will you be watching this season?

We already had full Sky HD package so the switch isnt a problem for us. Really, really cant wait for next weekend, all the b.s. can stop and we see who is fast and who isnt!

BBC probably, but due to missing out, I might consider another thing to follow properly besides MotoGP, but I've a lot to do this year, so not too concerned.

Well i'm not a footballist or unemployed so don't have Sky, live it isn't on proper TV for the first 2 races and many others so will have to hunt round the tinternet to find a stream to watch in poor quality probably with foreign commentary so 'difficult' i would say.

so your answer is on a foreign stream as I think e can assume those watching a foreign stream will watch the BBC when its live there

BBC (via Virgin) can't afford to pat 3 times to watch it i'm affraid.
TBH it's the practise i will miss the most especialy the first race, the replays are on early enough to avaoid the result ( i get upo late )

On a dodgy HD Sky box powered from a server in Africa for 60 quid a year doesn't seem to be an option, so I can't vote.

I will watch all races on BBC. I have a friend who has Sky Sports. Outside the rugby season I will watch F1 live on Sky. No box for that.

Get a cheap satellite dish & receiver from Lidl / Aldi / ebay etc. if you need one.

You can put the dish anywhere it can clearly see the Astra 19.2 degrees east satellite (even temporarily resting on a lawn or balcony propped up with flower pots will do), and tune in to RTL Germany which has free to air live F1.

Then listen to the R5 Live commentary.

Sorted.

Used to use this tactic whenever the tedious ITV advert breaks interrupted the live race.

It's bearing out (so far) my thoughts that very few will go out of their way to become brand new Sky customers just so they can watch F1 live. Apart from the BBC-Onlyites ()like me) the next biggest group are those who had the Sky HD [package already

Not missed any F1 sessions since 2007 but i can't afford sky.
I'll try to find an internet stream from somewhere and catch the rest on BBC.
If not i'll leave it.

FOM is missing a trick by not releasing full races on DVD every year (the review is awful)
yet the buggers still block videos from 1998.

When the question was first posed, I thought that I would buya SKY package, but since then I have decided that I "would get my life back" and just watch the highlights on the Beeb.

Other firends have made a similar decision and so I do hope that SKY get really stung by the cost and so few new people signing-up - reflected in the 3% of this survey.

While there may be no ads on SKY during the race, I bet there will be plenty during the build-up etc.

I can't dedicate 19 weekends to F1. Each race used to be an event, now it is like a weekly football match. I also follow rugby and so am out of a Saturday, sometimes virtually all day. If I miss the qually and build up then the race isn't so exciting.

When the move to Sky ws first mooted and I realised we'd lose half the races my first reaction, after the resentment against the allowed monopoly of Sky Sports, was almost of relief. I had an 'excuse' to merely see the highlights.

I too reckon that the build up will indeed be full of ads. Further, even if initially they do not, it won't be long before yellow flag incidents will give an excuse to cut to retail opportunities. The race includes the formation lap but one wonders if we will see that on Sky.

Time will tell.
