Morning all,

I did search as I thought this might have been posted already but I couldn't find anything so here we go.

The first race of the 2012 season is less than a week away. We've had a fairly inconclusive winter testing period so I guess we won't know until the lights go out on Sunday.

So, who is everyone's money on? Will Vettel walk away again? Is Hamilton or Button going to be a serious challenge? Will Raikonnen do anything? What of the new teams?

Is anyone going to be there?

I can't wait for it to start again!!

We'll have to start a parallel "non-live" thread for those of us who want to chat during the BBC broadcast. I will, of course, avoid this particular thread until after the BBC braodcast is over.

The same goes for qualifying.

Webber added new Helmet for 2012 F1 season - Australian Theme Helmet

“I’ve incorporated more of an Australian theme into my helmet, which I’ve be using for the whole year, not just in Australia,” says Webber.

McLaren look confident, JB relaxed and happy, and Lewis too, I expect them to make a better start to 2012 than 2011 - But I don't think there will be a huge change to the 'big three' in terms of RB being faster than McL and Ferrari a little behind them, but the gaps will be smaller. Hopefully LH or JB will be able to stay with SV for the first few laps and really put him under presure.

Not sure I can face getting up at 4:30 though after Wales win the Grand Slam, might try a 6am start and avoid any media.

Sorry, to nick your thread, DanRC, but I think for the purposes of people not stumbling on to the wrong thread and having their race ruined, we should keep the thread nomenclature the same as it always has been.

Cheers,

Pete

I'm definately up early to watch it, going to be at the inlaws house so it means I can get up before anyone else and watch it in peace and quiet rather than try and listen to what is happening whilst everyone else is yapping away.

Steady!!

I was just under the impression that was what the beeb had agreed - not really into the detail (could even be a good thing as last few years I have been watching mots of the semi recorder (first 1/2 hour) and then wizz on when bugger all is happening), I was hoping all the prerace guff would go and it would just be the full race ala as it was 20 years back - 5 min of pre-ample and the race starts.

Pity - Oh well, lots of gardening and DIY jobs will get done this summer smile

Nah, I'm useless with booze, 4 beers and I'm hammered and can look forward to spending the whole of the next day feeling like total crap. As you can imagine I don't like to drink much ha ha.

Truth is, I need to get the F1 'out of the way' before the Mountain Bike Downhill starts on Redbull.tv in the afternoon - but I thought I might be run out of PH if I admitted I prefer a cycling event to a Motorsport one...

As Graham Hill once said when he qualified near the back of the grid - you get a better class of people back here.
