So, for the last few years, Horner has had a clever Newey thing that gives an advantage, whilst not being in the spirit of the rules. Flexible wings. Pivoting floors. All that good stuff. He acts all above it and suuggests that others are just jealous.
Now, the boot is on the other foot, and Brawn's design team have a clever idea that Red Bull didn't. Why is he bealing on that much? The Merc isn't even competitive, and Newey just won't let it lie.
So hope they come 2nd this year, would make a better season.

He just want final clarification thats its legal before they kick off a massive developemnt project of their own. I expect the amount of resources and cost it could consume would be massive and its difficult to package within the existing car.
If it gets banned then theres no need and the resources can be used in other areas which lets face it they need to get back to McLaren pace.

It strikes me that Mr Horner, with assistance from Mr Vettell, is becoming a bit of a sore loser. Maybe he assured the Red Bull management that a third straight title would be a walk in the park & now that it has become apparent that it won't be he doesn't like it.
He is miffed that someone else has managed to find a loop-hole in the rules & he wants it stopped - until of course RB come up with a solution which other teams won't like after which he will turn round & tell them that it is in the spirit of the rules blah blah blah.
So Mr Horner, shut up, stop complaining & get on with it.

As OP said, Merc aren't overly competitive in race trim.
Horner, Lotus and 3 other teams apparently are not seeking clarification...Whiting has said it's legal twice now...
No clarification is needed, Horner et al are now saying it is not legal and want it stopped...poor loves don't like having to compete for a living...
Whiting is having a 3rd look at it now...quite why he has to do that is beyond me but even IF he says it's legal again...the teams can have another appeal/strop when in China....

I don't agree. The flexi wing is within the regs. It is permissible to flex so much if a weight is placed upon it. Did it meet that constraint? Yes, so legal. The use of the DRS as an enabler to allow an aero mechanism, other than the wing it self to operate would seem to be against the regs of not allowing driver controlled aero devices. As it is, it's not working that well, as it seems to unbalance the car in certain situations so I think the others may well go down a similar route, but possibly improve on it, if it is permitted. The best thing would be to ban it, imho. It's a great idea though and it's concept should be investigated in road cars, etc..
I am not a RBR fan btw! Just stating how I see the difference between those two points.
Why keep complaining? Well this is F1 and it seems to me that how you win long ago stopped mattering to many just so long as you do win. Oh and protesting someone else's car is a good way of distracting attention from some of the grey areas you might be exploiting.
