Alright chaps,
Just putting this out there...
I'm off to watch the MotoGP at the Circuit de Catalunya in a couple of weeks and staying in Barcelona. Just wondering whether anyone has ever been to investigate what remains of the old Montjuic street circuit which hosted the Grand Prix back in the 1960s and 1970s? There's not that much information online but I'd like to go and investigate what's left. Any tips or pointers to save wandering aimlessly around for hours would be tremendously helpful.

Lovely stuff, thanks. I believe the circuit is demarked somehow now but not sure if there is anything tangiable left. It's quite a long time since any racing was held there. And to add to our problems, Primavera is being held in that area over the same period so the whole place will be full of revellers.
I went there not so long ago and made jiggy with a young lady on what was the circuit.
Good views of Barcelona from the old fort at the top, think there is a cable car/furnicular thing on the other side you can still use to get up there.
A friend of mine competed in a 24hour bike endurance race there years after they stopped racing cars there, mid to late 80s I think. Zero signs that I saw of the original circuit, but i was not really looking for it.
Worth a visit IMO.

went there a few years ago knowing it was once a circuit but with no other information or map so came away dissapointed at not finding anything recognisable as a race track, a bit like visiting Crystal Palace now.
My trip was also ruined by suddenly coming across a couple having a jig jig! (jiggy? whatever)

Now you mention it I have also blessed a young lady in the grounds of Crystal Palace [at the Hawkwind & Dame Vera Lynn gig there in the early 80s]
Seeing just how easily outraged some are I will have to advance my plans to do a Hippy bird at Druids, something unspeakable at the Bombhole, but will continue to deny any involvement in the naming of Knicker Brook.

if I remember correctly the tour bus takes you part of the way round a lap.
I think you come onto the track between point 6 and 7 then go round to 8,9,10,11 and 1. Stadium/ museum is between 11 and 1 Then I cant remember if the bus looped back and went round to 4 or went straight on at 1.
But to echo comments above there is nothing there that shows it was a circuit.

Bloody hell - you guys! I request a bit of information on tracing automotive history and end up with tales of foreign sexual exploits. Unbelievable! Alan Partridge would be mortified.
Bit sad if there are no traces of the old track but I will try to record a lap of what remains and will post it up once I return.

The roads used are still there, they just won't be marked as anything resembling a circuit.

I will check back through my archive to see if I can locate it. I remember Frankel doing several Euro jaunts back in the red days and vaguely recall Montjuic. If only I'd got round to creating my 'MotorSport major articles' spreadsheet I wouldn't be in this mess. It's possibly in a "red issue".
