Not seen story on Beeb or Planet F1 yet, guess they're waiting to confirm authenticity....

According to http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2012/869/96... none of the teams mentioned actually protested the issue.
The car was deemed legal at the time of the last race.
The teams did not protest the car during the allotted time period following the race (2 hours I believe), however they did seek clarification on the floor from the FIA.
FIA have now deemed the floor illegal from this point onward, all previous results stand.
FIA have a history of this (renault mass damper and ferrari barge boards for example).
Just means that RB have to get the jigsaw out and cut the hole out to meet the edge of the floor, then it matches the Sauber/Ferrari floor which AFAIK is still deemed legal at this time.

I'd guess that a deal was done at Monaco along the lines of "if you don't protest & arse up the race results (always embarrassing when that happens) we'll ban it for Canada" which was why none of the teams actually protested last week. A sensible way to handle it? Or a stitch up that's more about F1's reputation (i.e. the sponsors) than the sport?
Well, well, well: I guess I was a bit too hasty & the F1times boys were ahead of the game. I can't help be curious about the FIA & other teams response though: essentially, we've got a statement declaring that RB won with an illegal car in the last race - which surely should invalidate the race results????
I really like Webber & it would be shame to lose the race win, but that's what should happen: if the car is deemed illegal, its illegal. End of story. Result cannot stand. At the risk of sounding sensationalist I wonder what the outcome would be had it been Hamilton/McLaren in the Mosely era....

Yes but cars have won with illegal cars whose results have stood: Kimi Ferrari in Australia, for example. Its floor was deemed illegal, yet the results stayed. I cannot think of any incident of results being declared void if the car is judged to be illegal after the event. Brazil '81 iirc.Wasn't Piquet disqualified from the win and someone else from second place (reuteman?)
Possibly for the "water cooled brakes".

Have you read any of the previous posts? The "statement" is that the hole in the Red Bull floors is not allowed by the rules.
That is subtly but significantly different to a statement saying Red Bull won with an illegal car.
