here's a cost saving option - don't change the formula in 2014 - stick with what you have

currently we have some of the best racing we've ever had in the series - yes its a product of artifice but its entertaining to watch to the extent of my Mother in law getting involved and jumping up and down with excitement during the last 10 laps of the Canadian GP

Ferrari only want as budget cap now as their own spending power has been limited by FIAT refusing to spend limitless amounts of cash and now that Ferrari can't pound round Fiorano for days and weeks at a time. They're worried that other teams will be able to outpace them in development so they want to restrict the possibility this may happen.

As soon as testing returns or FIAT's coffers are full again they'll want a return to in season testing quicker than Bernie would jump on a fiver. Ferrari look after one thing and one thing only. Ferrari.

Isn't Luca Di Montezemolo moving more into Italian politics at the moment aswell? Nice way to show he's 'in touch with the people' by bringing this up at the moment.

LdM has seen a way of gaining advantage over the UK based teams (Ferrari isn't very good at working efficiently).

With the Euro on the slide; Set the budget in £ or $ and the Eurozone teams will have a nice steady budget increase over the next few years compared with the UK based teams. Set the budget in € and the UK based teams will actually see a budget cut year on year.

You've hit the nail on the head, he spoke about that referring to the fact that people could not understand how they're spending milions during a recession (this because joe public forget that spending in racing it's an investment for Ferrari).

I think that this is the simplest approach. When Mad Max came up with the idea of $50million formula back in 2008, I posted then that I thought that this was a more sensible approach.

It does not matter if McLaren spend twice as much developing a front wing than, say Caterham, but if they are all restricted to a limited number of changes per annum, then it should help close the 5+ second gap that currently exists between the fastest and slowest teams.

It costs about £3million a year to race two GP2 cars for a season, why does F1 have to blow such ridiculous sums to achieve much the same effect?

To a very large extent, Bernie is now just a very wealthy employee of CVC & Co.

I think that the FIA, teams and circuits need to get their collective acts together to combat that abuse of power, but BE always knows that he can split and rule them. The teams are always driven by their egos.

Hopefully, it will be the German courts who will eventually point a very large gun at Bernie; but who will pull the trigger?
