Getting a train to Monza circuit - which station?!
Discussion
Hi,
Which is the closest train station to Monza circuit? I’m really struggling here!!!
We're staying north of the circuit, here: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=c-hotel&hl=en...

Is this the nearest station? Seems a long walk...

I've only ever gone in to Monza station. The way to the busses is well signed and we always got on linea nera service. Its about a 10 min walk from where it drops you off the entrance to the circuit. It's a nice walk through the park though.
Great, thanks so much for your help. We're going to Spa as well so it's a lot to try to organise! Looks like the train is only £5 for two people each way from our hotel. Result!danyeates said:

We're doing the same, drop me a line if you need any advice, I've got the train details on my work e-mail. chevronb37 said:

Sounds like a bargain. Would love to do Spa but haven't got around to it yet.
The trains in Italy are also cheap and always on time in my experience.
I meant the train from our hotel in Italy to Monza, sorry, not making myself clear! The trains in Italy are also cheap and always on time in my experience.
We're driving from the campsite to Spa.

A little thing that caught me out a few years ago when staying in Milan & using the train to get to Monza for the World Superbike, trains no problem on the Saturday, however they ran a much less frequent service on the Sunday.
Good point. Just checked Italiarail and it seems they still run every 30 mins from our station.
The trains are very regular on race day for the F1. They even put on a free train from Milan to Monza, only in Italy would they do that for the F1.
we got confused the first time we went and thought they put all the trains to Monza on for free. They aren't but they still didn't charge us. Think the Ferrari gear helped.

Just to echo the others, it's a great service. Very "unItalian" if that makes sense.
Train drops off, free buses from main concourse. Drop you near track (though is still >1 mile walk do to the park). Watch race, walk back, free bus (they come in 5 at a time). Police seem to prioritise buses through the city - drop to station. No ticket checking outbound, "It's all free. Good race!" said the ticket guy.
That was Como > Milan. Also good free parking at train station...

Our hotel is in Cassago, north of Monza. Cassago station is near the hotel and runs to Monza, no idea which line it is though!Train drops off, free buses from main concourse. Dan,
the line is the Lecco - Milano, operated by FS, you can see the trains available for the 9 here:
https://www.lefrecce.it/B2CWeb/search.do?parameter=searchOutputViewer it takes approx 40 minutes to get to the station and another ten minutes to the track gates.
PS, parking at train stations is always free, unless you enter into a private parking that may be next to the station.

PS. Stunning Z4M, I recently sold mine

Slightly off topic... I'm off to Switzerland for 2 weeks on Friday so will be handily placed close to Northern Italy just before the GP.
All things being equal (hotel availability, etc), does anyone have experience of buying tickets for collection on the day in Italy?
I've always prebooked before and had them delivered.

thanks mate, I do remember you car from the presentation on z4-forum, I considered a monacoblau coupe before purchasing this one, stunning colour yoursm, and a truly great car.
You can easily drive to the station leave the car there (there's a large parking space), also remember that white lines on the ground equal free parking, blue or yellow ones means you have to pay/limited time stop allowed.
Hamish,
generally yes you can buy them there, but expect to pay a premium on that and beware of possible scammers. I don't have direct experience on that truly...
