Sportscars are where it's at. You should really enjoy it.
As a run down on interest this weekend, P1s will be about whether Totyota can really take the fight to Audi. They looked like they might be able to at Le Mans. It's Audi's modular tank like approach vs Toyota's integrated fragility. P2s is where you'll see some really close racing. It's budget limited using customer cars. Look out for the difference in times in the same car with different drivers and you'll get to witness the quality of the drivers (as opposed to budgets as in F1). The same is true in GTEs - for us (I don't want to break the house rules so wont link or name our 2 bit fanzine) it's about the drivers.
The events are great: take the Pros, Ams, prototypes and road(ish) cars, mix them all together in a big bowl and pour liberally over a top of the line racing circuit. Allow to bake for 6 hours allowing fans at the track to really get a handle on what's going on (unlike an F1 sprint race) and bask in the glories of the day.

Forgot to add we're staying in MK on Saturday night if anyone is around and fancies a beer (or twelve)
I'm staying in a B&B near the circuit. As much as beer(s) sounds great, I know from past experience that loud racing cars don't mix with hangovers, so I will be having a relaxed night.

You've not been to Le Mans 24 then
???
Sadly not. I have been to pretty much everything else though.
???I'm already back at the B&B. Must be getting old.

Anyone else up for a PH gathering in the paddock at 3pm?
Just looked at the qualifying times, why do 2 of the LMP1 cars only have 2 drivers?

For 6 hr races you don't usually see more than two drivers in P1 cars as they are factory backed and don't need the budgetary addition of a third driver as opposed to the actual requirement of an extra driver for longer endurance racing i.e. 12 or 24hr.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
