Here is a report that I done for Gumball on last weekends British Rally X at Lydden Hill. It was my first time at rally x but I've been wanting to go for a while. It didn't disappoint. It was a good family atmosphere with open paddocks. I'd definitely go again.

Rallycross is almost always entertaining (except GRC, despite its budget). It eventually get shown on Channel 4 at stupid o'clock on Saturday morning about three months after the event.

Also in before the word 'chav' gets pinned on everything.

I asked one of the Video crew when it was televised and he said that it'll be on channel 4 in a week for 30 mins and motors in two weeks for an hour. Worth a watch if you can catch it. It could be my second 'blink and you'll miss it' TV appearance this year.

Rallycross is simultaneously the best kept secret and the best all-round family entertainment in Motorsport. Even people who generally loath and despise Motorsport (that'll be my wife and youngest son) have found it a thoroughly enjoyable day out when I've coaxed them along to the windswept wastes of Lydden.

I'm kind of hopeful that Monster's involvement will bring a little more visibility (and a bit more slickness and polish) to rallycross as with the right handling it could be a brilliant way of getting more "mainstream" punters out to circuits.

It's a shame Brands Hatch don't run meetings anymore as it's more accessible than most Rallycross venues and has far better facilities for a family audience who might be frightened off by the likes of Lydden, Blyton, Croft etc...
