Well I love it but then I'm biassed as I think the Eagles Weslake is one or the most beautiful racing cars ever built, which kind of gives any half way decent (and that looks way better than half way decent) rendering of it a head start with me... :-)

Same here. I prefer paintings based on actual events and incidents.

I like Michael Turner.

It was painted as montage on the request of the cars owner. I prefer events as well

Michael Turner's work is very good, as is his son Graham's.

I have a framed print of Michael's 1955 Mille Miglia painting somewhere - must remember to put it up sometime.

Moss liked this so much it is on his headed paper and his business cards. He very canny instead of money he swaps for signatures. He really is a true Gentleman and legend.

I fell in love with Turner's work around 30 years ago when this book came out -

i'd love an early tim layzell original because i think he does something very different to the rest with colour and pesoective but other than that i'd rather spend the money on the race posters from the 60s/670s. Very rarely does an artist, imho, they get anywhere close to capturing motorsport in a painting. i dont dispute the talent required by the likes of michael turner but motorsport is noise and movement which doesnt capture well in a water/oil colour painting.

The Donnington car is an Eagle but it is the Eagle Climax that Dan used until the Westlake engines were ready.

The painting is great but I am also biased in that Dan Gurney was one of my great heroes in motorsport in the late 50s and through the 60s.

I dislike 'realist' artwork where motorsport is concernd. I guess that's why i love Dexter Brown. Take a look at the work that Automotive Images' website. I have the Miura picture on my wall...

Not a fan of Turner, more of a "magazine" artist in my opinion!

The 75 Monaco picture brings back memories of watching the practice from the school play ground which overlooks the circuit/harbor!

I really like Tim Layzell's work. His style just seems to work with motorsport.
Would love one of his pieces on my walk. Also I think that his work would translate particularly well if it was turned into a Lego mosaic. It is one thing on my lottery win list.
