Neither- I support good racing. Never got the tribalism thing- possibly why I don't like Football and ball games. If really pushed I wopuld confess to liking the red cars from Maranello and I loved watching Lauda race. But it's all about the bloke behind catching the bloke in front .

You seem to assume they are mutually exclusive. In F1 - I don't really have a preference, I think LH is a bit of a plonker, but will still enjoy watching him win in a Mercedes, as I enjoyed it in a McLaren and enjoyed Button winning in a McLaren. Will enjoy a Lotus winning (either driver). But also enjoy Maaaaaak winning, but not Red Bull in general.
So in short...it depends!
BTCC - I support the Hondas, but that's because they are from my neck of the woods. If Team Dynamics changed manufacturer, I would probably go with.

A bit of both. I've supported Jenson Button as a driver ever since he was in the shoot out for the Williams seat. Similar age and from a similar part of the country I guess.
I've always been a Ferrari fan from when Mansell races for them. Jenson in a Ferrari (without 'ABC is faster than you' messages!) would be my ideal situation. I've always wanted Williams to do well (probably thanks to our Nige!) where McLaren leaves me a bit cold.
I do like the other Brits and was following Hamilton pre-F1 but he's just not my sort of bloke. Also a bit of a Raikkonen fan and Alonso has grown on me while Hamilton has started to irritate. I was a Schumacher fan from 1996 onward purely for the Ferrari connection. Now I couldn't separate the two.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. There are drivers and teams I'd prefer to do well, and conversely the odd driver I don't admire much due to the way they go about their racing. Mostly I just want to watch close, clean racing.
It must be a marketers dream that there are driver supporters as dedicated ast he one the OP mentions, who will replace all the branded gear every year!
I have fairly split and confused loyalties when it comes to F1.
For instance I like Vettel and Webber, Newey and Christian Horner but hate Red Bull as a company! Alonso is frankly Awseome but again Ferrari, I don't have much time for them.
As far as teams go I like McLaren and their drivers, Williams (and their drivers), Sauber (ditto) and Caterham (ditto).
I cant get excited about Mercedes but did like Brawn (dont mind Nico, dislike shuey)! And were to start with Lotus or TolemanBenettonRenaultLotusRenaultGeniCapitalLotusthingy as I like to refer to them. Yes the team has some interesting history but the amount of name changes is just stupid, how can you support something with such an image problem? I definitely cant.
Were was the both/neither/confused voting option?

I'm with you on this and I like it that way.I love the sport and take it for what it is. It's not just a driver/team thing, I enjoy the politics, the apparent inconsistencies the pushing luck/cheating, and of course the random intervention of the FIA.
