F1 2013 road trip
Discussion
Looking at going to a race next season for my dads 50th, preferably want to make a long weekend of it and drive there, so looking at either Barcelona or Monaco. Also contemplating renting something a bit special to go in as it’s a one off occasion. Only down side with this is most have 100 mile a day limitations and as Monaco will be a 2000 mile round trip minimum I don’t really want to be occurring excessive charges.
Would you recommend Monaco over Barcelona?
Just seeing if anyone has any recommendations on the best way of going about it either location, I’m sure there are plenty on here who been there and done this.
Thanks in advance
Kyle

I've been to MotoGP at Barcelona and the Historique at Monaco but not to F1 at either venue. Both of them are fantastic in their own right to visit. The Circuit de Catalunya might not have the grandeur of Spa, for example, but the spectating is great and the complex is clean, with loads of decent facilities. It's the best circuit I've visited in terms of how you, as a punter, are accommodated. Monaco is also wonderful. We stayed about 5 mins walk from Casino Square and the whole weekend was magic. The spectating in the tribune opposite the Casino itself is breath-taking. However, it's a different experience as you can't wander around the track freely spectating from different locations to get such a feel for the layout itself.
Personally, of the foreign circuits I've visited, Monza is my favourite, but for a road trip probably Spa makes the most sense. Whichever you choose will doubtless offer a fabulous and memorable trip. I did Spa and Monza this summer on a road trip with my dad and came away with so many treasured memories.
