Edit: When I posted this I'd only skim read the article. As has rightly been pointed out later in this thread, they haven't posted a complaint, but they could or the FIA may investigate anyway.

That appears to give the FIA until Friday to resolve the situation one way or another.

That's the interesting bit, they appear to have to investigate with the evidence in front of them. It all comes down to if a green flag was waved on the INSIDE of turn 3 which there is no footage of.

Well, Strictly speaking he overtakes before the green light - guilty as charged.

If he had made the move any later (such that he overtook after the green light) he wouldn't have made it before the bend, and although he would have got past in short order - the rules are the rules.

Though it sticks in my craw - they have a valid point but it's not good news for the sport.

Surely the FIA wouldnt alter the result now though? Probably just a reprimand, its their favourite way of dealing with things.

I don't think the FIA will want anything to happen, it doesn't sit well if the championship is decided in the stewards room.

However, if Ferrari do appeal, I think Red Bull are screwed after looking at that footage.

The penalty is 20 seconds added to the time. This would put fingers in 9th place and he would lose the championship to Alonso by three points.

Check Vettel's dash - 2 yellow lights and "Flag" on the display until he passes the green light before T4.

I'm not sure anything will happen TBH.

According to the article - if there is a waved gren flag on the inside on turn 3 it will over-ride the flashing yellows and his own onboard flag light. Which is why it's so key.

Apparently 20 seconds added to the race time and he would be demoted to 8th meaning Fred wins by 1 point - so finishing under the safety car could have had a major impact on the result!!

Did you even read the article? You're totally wrong. There's no dispute that he overtook before the green light. Go read it and then come back when you understand the nature of the controversy.

That looks like a green flag being waved by the Marshall.

After watching it a couple of times, there is a marshal waving a green flag at the marshal post on the LHS just after the flashing yellow on the right.

He was obviously raging that Schumacher let Vettel pass and when he saw them shake hands at the end I thought his helmet was going to explode because of the rage building up inside it so it doesn't surprise me that he is pushing for this. Whilst probably the best driver on the grid he is such a bad loser.
