There is hope however in the form of the Practical Performance Car magazine £999 Challenge. This is the sixth year and all you need to enter is a car with an M.O.T that cost less than £999 to buy or build and £50. You even get a t'shirt out of it.

You could always give this a go at £6k for a season, and you get to keep the car thing

Hill climbing is another alternative, you can use road cars with only a helmet suit and shoes.

Ask in the Club forum theyre very helpful.

This happens sometimes. You get a BMW 328 for £500-£600 spend the rest of the budget on a race seat, harness, paint and tweaks; then sell it as a track day special for £1,500 or more later.

How come we don't have that Folk Racing thing the Scandinavians do? If you could get short oval tracks with an infield to set up a barrier you wouldn't even need to visit big circuits.

See this video of drifting at Buxton raceway, stick a barrier where the cars might shoot across the track and its job done, right?

I've always fancied having a go at the £999 challenge. Might actually get around to it this year!
