I am currently looking to do some volunteer work in a race team to hopefully end up in the future full time i have always had a interest in motoring industry and would love to do some volunteer work or part time work to help me get more of an understanding on my college course.

Go knocking on doors, with a smile and a C.V! Ask to speak to the Team Manger or do a bit of research and find out his name.

Local to leicester is: Team Parker Racing (porsche supercup), Atech CRS (GP3), MGR (Barc Renault), Scorpio (Barc Renault) off the top of my head. Get google searching!

Get in contact with the formula ford people through their series website. That's normally a good starting point. They were very open towards me when I tried a few years ago I just ended up taking a different route.

as someone who has worked in motorsport I cannot emphasise this enough. You need to be downfall the legwork, not the team.

Begging for experience, out of the kindness of his heart he offers you some and you want travelling expences?

Leicester is 8 miles from Mallory, 16 from Doninton and 23 from Rockingham.
On yer bike, lad!
Get into the paddock at a club meeting (try blagging your way in with someone who is just arriving?). Find a friendly club racer and make yourself useful.
Then see if they will take you with them to other meetings.

We all have to start on the floor.
