Restrictions on Silverstone Circuit?

Brands Hatch and Croft are just two circuits that have had their activities affected by local residents complaints. Soon it could be Silverstone's turn.
Recently South Northants Council turned down an application for 220 houses on protected land next to the A43, very close to the circuit. The developers have appealed this decision and if they are successful new residents would be in the firing line for circuit noise and potentially likely to complain.
It only needs one complaint and the old adage of "the circuit was there first" carries no weight.
We are fortunate in the UK to be well served by race tracks, but they are under gradual attack. If this concerns you you can contact Eric Pickles MP (who will make the final decision on this development) and tell him your thoughts.
And no, I have no connection with Silverstone Circuit, but I do like motor sport!

Its not all gloom and doom, especially in the light of the court of appeals ruling on Mildenhall stadium earlier this year.

Which is a shame because, IMO, it's the only argument that matters.Or is it?
What if you moved in next to a quiet local track used a handfull of times a year to race unmodded road cars (i.e. full exhausts, so not too loud.) Then over time they held more and more events, and they increased not only the frequency but also the type of cars to full on racers with loud exhausts. What if they then started doing endurance events all summer long.
Not all tracks are equal, and the same track may not be equal over time. In the above example would it be unreasonable to complain that the noise was much worse than when you moved in?
How about if you move in next to a countryside pub which plays no music and closes at 11pm. And then it's taken over and converted into a heavy metal pub (?) which is open and loud 24/7. Is it your fault for moving next to a quiet country pub, and you should foresee that it might evolve? Or is it the operators fault for changing the mode of operation substantially?

Per my example above, what if 'the noise' increases substantially after they moved in?
id say it should still have been forseeable that as the circuit is there and already exists then the usage may increase. in the same way as it may go down. the current noise level shouldnt be taken as a maximum, the maximum should be noise 24/7 !!!same with any factory etc. I love the way peopl who move to the country they complain the farmers put poly tunnels up and spoil their view?
a farm is essentially an industrial process so you should expect farmers to use what ever process is most effective.

Nothing to do with restrictions by Silverstone though. Entering a 24h race costs huge money these days, committing to this with the very real risk of having your run ruined but the noise police has to factor in the decision process.
Much easier now to put the budget together for dubia or the like, with much less risk etc.
Another nail in the coffin of UK motorsport - I do wish MSA would talk more action on this stuff and stop pandering to the green agenda.
