I am visiting the UK (live in oz) in February and will be having my 8yr old son with me for 2 weeks (6th to 20th). Keen to take him to some Motorsport or Track Days (just to watch).

Are there any decent Motorsport events on worth going to?

If not is it ok to go and watch a trackday or is it boring just to spectate?

It can be very dull unless you can get yourself a ride out in some of the cars.

Go to Donny for a test day.

It's unsilenced, normally all kinds of things there from group c cars to GT and btcc cars. The paddock is always filled with exotica too. Oh, and it's free.

Plenty of trackdays on and they are, AFAIK, all free to go and spectate.

I know there are a few on at Oulton Park.

Testing starts at most UK circuits from the end of this month.
I'm looking at test dates at Brands Hatch in Feb - if it stops snowing and warms up a bit !

At that time of year, all the track boys are too scared to come out of their heated garages, so the action is left to the real men (i.e. rallyists) wink

There's the Wyedean Rally on 9th Feb in the forests around Chepstow
http://www.wyedeanrally.com/

South Downs Stages as previously mentioned, the advantage of that is that it's free, it's in a nice historic place (Goodwood) and you can wander round the paddock all day and have plenty opportunity to poke around the cars and speak to the crews. Very friendly.

North West Stages as previously mentioned.

The Snowman Rally on 16th Feb in the forests around Inverness:
http://www.snowmanrally.co.uk/

The Riponian Stages Rally on 17th Feb in the forests of Yorkshire:

ENJOY! smile

It's worth remembering that you'll need decent cold weather gear (waterpoofs/boots/hat etc) for a UK Forest Rally in February wink

If you're near London then Wimbledon Stadium has racing from 5.30pm on Sunday 10th and Sunday 17th. The 17th is the Superstox British Championship, which should be a cracker. You can watch from the heated grandstand if it's a bit cold!

That website has a page for banned drivers - nine indefinite bans and three life time bans! I wonder what they did.

I cannot decide whether to go to South Downs stages [closer to home and free] but been before.

Or Wyedean Rally [freakin' miles away and not free]never been to it confused
