Silverstone F1 3 days and camping?

My Sis in law is arranging for my brothers birthday that we have a get together at the Britich GP this year.

question is re camping. what do people do? ive seen the normal campsite to the rigt of the access road, but are there other options? either for tents or caravans.

I've stayed at Whittlebury Park campsite a couple of times, though not recently. It was reasonably quiet, ideal for walking to the track.

^ You're probably referring to Litchlake. They accept 'vans, 'homes and tents - not sure if they do electric hookup though. Big and lively when I went. They have stalls and eateries on site. The mini fair is next to it and so is the large beer tent.

There are other choices:
1/ Silverstone camping - in the fields behind Club/Stowe. They do electric and I believe they put entertainment on. Never been but going in April.
2/ Whittlebury - excellent, IMO. Have electric pitches in a separate area. They have a marquee with a band and bar as well as a couple of other bars. Red Bull usually attend in some form or other and they usually have the RedBull pit stop challenge. Excellent facilities, which you pay a little more for (they do an early bird special, if you book in time). Entrances near copse and Becketts. My favourite!
3/ New Rookery farm. Bottom end of Silverstone village. Good for the pub and village shop, good mile and then some to the circuit. When we went they gave us weekend access to the SRO club (I think it was called). Bands and bars inside - good atmosphere.
4/ hamilton fields - never been but many enjoy their hospitality

There are also many other little sites which seem to spring up (names/contact details unknown) but I think most of these have little in the way of entertainment.

Oh, try and stretch the budget for Grandstand seats. Much better in my opinion and the freedom of time and movement is well worth the extra.

Another vote for Whittlebury. Camped there twice and have no complaints whatsoever. Facilities are fine and track access is only a 5 minute walk. A fair amount of the drivers stay in Whittlebury hotel as well. Most importantly if go out of the entrance and turn left and keep walking for around 5 minutes there's a great pub with a nice beer garden on the left.
