Anyone got a good race car spreadsheet I can use for ref?
Discussion
Well my plan was to put together a spreadsheet for the car, and have several pages with the following bits of information:
- Nut & Bolt & fitting torques
- Consumable part numbers (belts, filters, plugs, etc)
- Number of track hours for each component on the car (eg bearings, clutch, seals, suspension components etc)
- Fluid types (brake, clutch, engine/gearbox/diff oil)
- Wiring diagrams, fuse sizes and relay part numbers
- Geo/aero/suspension/ECU setup data for each circuit, lap times
Probably a bit anal but I wanted to keep a good log of what is on the car, how long it has been on there and all that good stuff - I guess most people do it with note pads but I'm terrible with paper and I'll lose it within a month! Since it is likely to be a ballache to put together I thought I'd see if anyone had something similar to use as a starting point but no probs if not!

I've got a tuscan check list that I already need to dig out a copy for someone else I'll pop it together with the cage certificate on the web under downloads when i get a moment.
other stuff I just have is separate documents
Thanks G that would be helpful... Still a little way off testing yet, but its running and I think we have brakes and clutch now so starting to think about actually driving the thing which seems like a pretty novel idea! My advice to anyone starting out is to put a known base setup on the car, and run with that for the first part of the season, obviously continuously checking it to make sure nothings changed, but not to constantly bugger about with the settings. You tend to find that your driving changes a lot so that you cant make sense of the setup changes your making.keep the car setup a constant until your comfortable with what the car does in different situations, then when you get some testing time start to try different things.
the obvious exception to that is if the car is doing something nasty, then you do need to dial that out, but once happy then leave it to learn the car properly, otherwise you'll be constantly chasing your tail..

Once you've got something up and running, it would be very easy to log track hours and automatically generate a replacement list for over life or approaching life items.. - Nut & Bolt & fitting torques

Yup this is the plan, so I can easily see when a component was last replaced and when its due replacement. This should make maintenance a bit easier to keep on top of.I spanner mine myself so it's always checked! Got a sheet for how the car is set up on the day (tyre pressures, suspension etc...) but that's it! I don't keep a check on the life of components... If a wheel bearing starts to have a slight bit of play I'll replace it and so with other stuff... Keep your rose joints and UJ's etc well lubricated and they last a good while!
The Griff is sat in the back of the trailer at the moment with no heart
Hoping to get the MGB Roadster I've got in the garage (5ltr no less) sold soon to make space and free up some cash to get on with the racer soon!

Mind you the Griff was in need of major surgery prior to last season! Good news is I passed my eye test today at the third attempt - what a nice doc! So I'm still racing and dangerous, but only in CSCC Future Classics this year - my last year it seems.
