Compared to the cost of building it, or the costs of buying something as quick, yes it is a bargain (even with the VAT that needs to be added). You'd need a very recent/current GT3 car to beat it and those are expensive to buy and hugely expensive to run.
I'm considering options at the moment. I still intend racing, but don't want to continue to commit as much money to racing each year as I have been doing. Whether that is doing some lower profile stuff in the Sagaris or something else entirely we'll have to see.

Even with the vat added on, Andy's Sagaris is worth a lot more than £60k. I know what it costs to build these awesome beasts and this is definitely a bargain! Not sure why he'd want to sell it at that price quite honestly and it'll be a shame if he's not on the grid with us again. Let's hope a fellow enthusiast snaps it up and comes out to play.

I'm not disputing the fact that the car is worth much more than the asking price (even with the VAT), I just feel nauseous at the thought of anybody having to give the C&E that amount of money without being able to claim it back. It would have to be a motor racing related VAT registered business in order to claim a refund, not just any VAT registered entity. Any future sale will also incur VAT for the cars entire lifetime!

Yep, sadly that's a fact and there's not a lot anyone can do about the vat except as you say via a motorsport business! Still, a hell of lot of car for the money. If a non vat registered individual bought it (Andy obviously has to pay the vat element to C&E on sale), how could the new owner remit vat to C&E when they come to sell it on again - don't think it applies at that point does it?

That's what I thought Craig, thanks for the clarification. In reality then, a non vat registered person could buy Andy's car for £60k (great value for money), run it for a couple of years & as long as they looked after it properly, could most likely get all or at least most of their purchase money back - not bad for a race car!Edited by cwin on Thursday 28th March 16:21
