Hello, this may be better suited to a different section of the forum but here goes...
I am wishing to take my 6yr old son to Silverstone this year to witness the V8's before their demise. I'm looking to go on the saturday for qualifying and would be interested to learn of any advice or recommendations regarding parking and ticket type.

I've had a look on the Silverstone website and it only gives me the oppurtunity for general admission on a Saturday (no grandstand access) ~ is this correct and what are peoples views of general admission only?

With regard to parking should I consider park and ride? is the onsite parking ok? I want the day to be enjoyable for my son and would appreciate any feedback from parents who have experianced the day with their children. We are both regulars at Castle Combe.

Pretty sure that if you only want to go on the Sat then you can only get general admission, which won't allow you to go into the stands. Only other option is to buy something called a Family ticket that grants access to the stands but I can't see where you buy them on the web site.

Sat’s general admission only unless you’ve bought a 3 day grandstand ticket. You could try the Friday because that’s cheaper, get revolving grandstand access & you get to park at the circuit. But there’s a risk with Friday’s because if it rains like it did last year, then you won’t get to see much track action. Where as Sat they obviously have to venture out for qually regardless of weather.

I’ve booked Saturday tickets for this year, decided to go with Park & Ride, if you remember last year they were only allowing park & ride ticket holders in because of the swamped car parks, so just covering ourselves even if the odds are high for it to happen again.

Can’t comment on the views for Saturday, but race day last year it was really the case of getting there early, picking a good spot & camping out until the race. I was located just before copse which has banking which helps if someone tall is in front of you.
