It's an amazing grid - can't quite believe there's that much money around for this type of racing here in the UK !

Is Derek Johnston running the same 458 he won the GTCup in?

Tuffer - you really should.

I am making a note to try to avoid being at Old Hall on the 1st April, with luck they will have calmed down a little by the time they get to my usual Oulton stop at Knickerbrook, I'm getting too old to run for cover hehe

I can't believe they are almost all GT3's - incredible smile Hoepfully the majority turn up for each race and we don't end up with a 15 car grid with the occasional full grid!

Looking at the list there are only a couple in there that might not make it to every round, almost all the rest are in it for the championship/are the usual suspects you can rely on to turn up all the time short of granading engines and the like.

Anyone know if that is the full grid that will be there from the start at Oulton, I know in past seasons a few teams have started a round or two later like when the 2 Momo Moslers missed the first round a couple of years ago which was a shame.

^^^^

I doubt if even Ben knows.

It may be one or two cars light as there is always the odd issue for one or two teams on the lead up to the start of the season. I'd expect you can bank on there being at least 80% of them out there, if not 100%.

If anyone is interested in attending British GT at Oulton Park at the end of the month and would like to do it properly in the best hospitality suite at the circuit over looking the first corner with clear views down the pit lane then please let me know. It is a mega location and the only one available to rent. Leather sofas, TV and timing feeds.

The suite is normally hired by Phil Burton exclusively but due to his racing retirement, spaces are now available.

We have 5* food and a free bar all day. Piston heads users get 10% discount.

There will be a maximum of 20 people.

Discounted tickets also available

that's an impressive grid - good to see so many entrants after the last couple of years with some teams struggling.

can't wait for the opening round at Oulton Park - always a great day out

Audi v Aston v BMW v Ferrari v Ginetta v Mclaren v Mercedes v Porsche.

What's not to like?

Hmmmm, a laymans ticket for Silverstone in July or a few rounds of the BGT?

Soz Bernie, but after watching the last BGT round at Donington in 2012 i know where my hard earned will be going this year...........doubly so with a grid like that!!

The last time I was this excited about British GT there were F1 GTRs and 911 GT1s running! If the racing is a patch on the final round at Donington last year this will be an amazing spectacle. I must make it to more than two rounds this season.

Dan - I'd guess Derek Johnston is in a different car. His old 458 was a modified Challenge car. I expect this will be a proper GT3 effort but I might be wrong.

You're not kidding! Though it wasn't a patch on 2002. That goes in my top three worth racing rain.

I agree and do think we could be entering a bit of a golden patch for GT racing generally.
Whilst i don't think another series will rival (or dare i say it be allowed to rival) F1 i really do think we could be seeing a shift towards a common ground for GT racing, and not just throughout Europe.
The loss of GT1 has just further steadied the GT3 ship and with the ever increasing number of pay drivers in F1, GT racing is boosted with "star" drivers such as Bruno Senna.
Along with the number of manufacturers involved this has got to add kudos and can only be a good thing for those who see a sport beyond F1.
Dare i say it but I would like to hope in future that some common ground could be reached around the various series so we can see some across borders wild card entries like the old days (kind of an equivalent of Soper doing occasional rounds of the BTCC in the ETCC Eggenberger Sierra, that sort of thing....)

You never know your luck...
