Maybe they were getting fed up with the piss poor coverage, which is why I'm also ditching Vodafone at the end of 2013!
On a serious note, who's gonna replace them? There were rumours circulating last year that Coca Cola could step in, therefore keeping the red and silver, but they were constantly dismissed as bulls
t, mostly due to the tie up between McLaren and GSK/Lucozade.
But with red and white being Coca Cola's corporate colours, and a possible return to Honda power mooted, it'd be really cool if it all comes together.

GSK most likely in my view, via on of their sub brands.
Hence you now know why Perez was signed. Because they're hoping for Carlos Simm to bring some cash to the table.
However, I'm told that's not panning out the way they expected it to. Possibly meaning that Perez may only have a V short contract at Mclaren and even shorter if he doesn't perform.
Kevin Magnussen is impressing a lot of people there at the moment - but don't expect him to be in the car until 2015 but you never know !

I don't know why people are surprised by this news though, Vodafone stated when they announced they were pulling out of V8SC's last year they were withdrawing all worldwide Motorsport sponsorship. Sure I even posted about it actually. It's been known for a while, maybe the press are just slow on the uptake?
The question is....will McLaren be tapping up some of their road car investors and seeking backing from Singapore or will they be looking to Mr Slim Jr and Mexico / Brazil? Their Business Development people will be busy because F1 is NOT flavour of the month globally. Many larger companies are not that interested in F1 and many are suspicious of the TV figures used in pitches, what is offered by teams and also how F1 as a business approaches the digital ear of consumers. It will be an interesting year. McLaren will be looking for upwards of £70 million per year and a huge amount of off car budget too.
^^^^ Bet he isnt because Lewis and XIX Management are not 'selling' Lewis very well at the moment. He is struggling to connect with the mass market and Isnt Ken Block with generation Y. Yes Mercedes will use him but Lewis isnt an easy sell re endorsements. Like Andy Murray who is looking to possibly leave XIX because they are NOT a sponsorship agency nor a management company within sports.

According to 'the industry' Mclaren dont have a Partner yet and somebody should not have announced any date. Yes there are discussions, presentations, meetings and factory visits, Monaco yacht evenings and private jets being flown here and there, but as of yet no contract. Something will happen but it will be interesting to see who and whee the money comes from......SE Asia or S America.
