Do they have a leadership problem, a design problem or an operational problem?
New car needs a LOT of development and yet again they screwed up their best chance at excellent points. Thought button had a superb race today- he certainly seemed to outperform the car, and with 13 laps or so to go his team cost him significant points with the most basic of errors which seem to occur annually.
What's the solution?

I would like to see the stats for which team screws up pit stops the most in F1. I suspect that the “winners” might well be Ron’s mob by a country mile.
To be fair do we see all of the mistakes on the TV from the minnows?
As for a solution to the problem I suspect that it might be to just say to the lad’s just get on with it and do your own thing. You will probably find that McLaren micro manage it to such a degree they just can’t help but look like amateurs.

I would imagine the added pressure of having fudged it up before is not helping with the mindset of the pit crew - But, there is no excuse when differences in performance come down to 100ths of a second!
A lost second in the pits is a massive distance to claw back when you're competitor is already doing close to 200mph on nice fresh boots which 'fit very nicely thank you very much'.
Pressures on boys - Get it sorted or get someone else on the guns! (Or spend several more hundreds of thousands developing a wheel nut).

I'm not sure a bunch of lads left to get on with it would get it moving again in 2.4 seconds 
Something must have gone wrong with the signaling yesterday - the gun man had not finished his job, so the chief mechanic shouldn't have released the car.

Its all well and good being the absolute quickest, but no good if you make fundamental mistakes

The step between the first and second races (both of which had unexpected and inconsistent weather issues) has significant and were it not for the wheel Jenson might have (against expectation) threatened the podium by making fewer stops... Even when the mistake was made on the wheel they managed to react quick enough to get the car stopped where it could be pushed back rather than the usual outcome of such situations where the car exits the pit lane before it gets to that. Yet another slow start by the boys from Woking, but is it _that_ much worse a start than last year (when they went on to make well over twice as many points as Mercedes).
I don't see them anywhere near the title, but after the 3 main protagonists they are not dead yet. Not even nearly.
