Nothing to do with F1, but the road car division arnt doing as well as they'd hope.

Amus may have got it wrong.

That story doesn't make sense. It states that he own 15% of the shares, but then says he doesn't have voting rights. That sounds very unlikely to me.Nothing to do with F1, but the road car division arnt doing as well as they'd hope.

He denies that story (he would say that, wouldn't he) But apparently would quite like to usurp Whitmarsh from his role at Racing due to the general lack of success under his stewardship. RD denies that as well.
But the last Constructors championship for McLaren was 1998! Exist to win and all that.
Whilst many don't like him and he does seem a bit lacking in the charisma stakes. I cannot believe him being forced out/demoted would be a good thing for McLaren. He took them from not so goods to the colossus they are today. You don't do that by accident.
Would be happy if he went back to the f1 team.

Merc must be pissed off that Mclaren will be powered by Honda next year.
Why? The deal is that next year they have to pay for their engines. If Merc really wanted to keep McLaren on board they'd do a deal accordingly. Worth noting that it's not a Merc/AMG based engine in their road cars so things have been cooling for a while. There seems to have been some moderation at work here?
As to the story, I can think of several people who would want to perpetuate a juicy number such as this.
The road car division was always intended to make losses of course. Sad if the Ojjeh story is correct though; they were very close.

Wasn't Ron stepping back from the f1 team part of the 'deal' surrounding the 2007 debacle?
That may not matter now Max has moved on though.
Wasn't part of the deal, Ron just thought it would be better for the team, seeing as Max hated him so much. That may not matter now Max has moved on though.
FWIW the story has been completely denied by McLaren who say Ron remains on the board, still has voting rights and that the road car division is on track to make a profit this year.
Merc sold their stake in the team some time ago, as someone above says if Merc really wanted to keep McLaren they could and would.
AMuS do cme out with some crazy stories at times.
This seems to me to be a totally bogus story. Absolute BS.
Given the fact that we have the chairman of the co absolutely rejecting the claims, there really is nothing left. I am surprised its even being reported.
But there may be an explanation. As said elsewhere in this thread, I suspect the "journalist" is dancing to the tune being played by another actor here. Deliberate mischief making.
If so, it is pretty poor form.

I would suggest that the story makes no sense as it is a bulls
t story.
It is such a surprise that it appeared in the main GERMAN car magazine and that there is absolutely nothing to corroborate their ‘story’.
Merc must be pissed off that Mclaren will be powered by Honda next year.
When did you make that one up?

McLaren have a contract with Mercedes for 2014, and options thereafter.

I believe Ron and Mansour Ojjeh have more of an arms length friendship these days due to Ron and his wife Lisa separating a few years ago. Kathy Ojjeh and Lisa were very close and the divorce did not go down well.
When you consider the circumstances that led to the divorce, that is a shame.rubystone said:

Or are you just saying that the Ojjehs were disappointed in the situation generally and the person that was at fault?Paddy_N_Murphy said:
Why the delete Rich?
Some moderator just smashed the 2 threads together (the original and my newer/duplicate one) It didn't make any difference. Just re-iterated what others had said. But it read wrong so I pulled it
