I have watch some big crashes over the years but this Ferrari 458 crash at Suzuka had a massive impact. Both Marshall and driver are in hospital but survived.

Jesus Christ! that was a huge crash.

Any idea on the back story, all the other cars were slowing down and that marshal was applauding so I presume it was the end of the race...

Glad both have survived and hope they recover fully

Looks like the end of the race and someone thought they were still racing. Or racing another car to the line only to find someone slowing up at the line and taking avoiding action.

That's what I assumed - 2 cars racing to the line (quite correctly so)

Certainly looks like it from that perspective. I guess I didn't think of it due to the original angle not 'showing' them racing

Part of me assumed a technical fault, but that seems most likely.
