Alonso, Raikkonen or Ricciardo Red Bull

So Alonso at Red Bull is it just a publicity stunt and or a gee up from Alonso's manager to keep Ferrari on their toes or a real possibility.
Suzi Perry got Christian Horner a bit tied up yesterday asking about this where he eventually said if I commented then you would know our decision. So Suzi said oh so you do know who you are signing after which much back pedalling from Christian.
Later when Vettel was asked Fernando or Kimi he said he would rather have Kimi.
So Fernando or Kimi or Daniel who do you think will get the nod.
I still think they will keep young Seb happy and go Daniel Ricciardo.

i'd like to see alonso go to red bull, that way we have seen the top three drivers (alonso, hamilton, vettel) directly compete against each other. the fact vettel has never been up against a top driver, whilst clearly being in the fastest car, leaves a big question mark over his actual ability.

Really? After the first or maybe second DWC maybe, but I think he's earned his spurs now. FTR I don't like him, but have to concede he can pedal a bit.
I don't think Alonso will go to Red Bull. Why would he want to be in the same team as Vettel driving a car which appears identical but is, mysteriously, slightly slower?
It would be good to see a top driver up against Vettel in the same car though. All we currently have to compare them on is their relative performances in the Suzuki Liana!

The commercial appeal for Alonso in Spanish speaking nations to Red Bull is immense.
As much of a draw as Ferrari is to any driver, unless they seriously up their game or demonstrate that they'll have a corker of a 2014 car, then I do think Alonso will be looking elsewhere. Ferrari have lost him one championship that should have been his and arguably, others too by providing a car that just hasn't cut it.
I wouldn't bet against him being in a Red Bull next year and if he was, I would anticipate a deal that would put Vettel in a Ferrari, perhaps not in 2014 but soon after.

I cannot see RB hiring any driver who did not further their commercial interests, especially those in the developing and Latin world. Every other consideration is unlikely to be considered.
There is no doubt that Alonso is perfect for them in this respect, certainly better than Seb. If they had to choose between Seb and Alonso I think the German would have his bag packed for him. Even if Seb was a better driver - which I don't think he is, but I'm open to discussion - then if RB could make more money from Alonso then that would be good enough reason.
If Marko did, as one poster suggested, give inferior material or support to Alonso if the two drivers were in the same garage, then I think it would be obvious enough for Alonso to see it and he has not been slow in coming forward in similar matters (although then only being given identical support) before. In any case, I would thik that the major sponsor might well demand that Alonso be allowed through if they felt Alonso was the faster driver at, for instance, a Latin circuit.
Giving drivers inferior equipment covertly has a long history. Mansell was given less powerful engines, or software actually, when he showed himself to be the equal of Piquet, better in qually. And the only aspect of favouring one driver over another that has not found favour in the RB team is in admitting it.
I'd still say it is unlikely that Alonso would go to RB but a reason for turning down an offer would not be that he was worried that he might be treated in a manner inferior to that of his team mate.
I have to say, though, that I'd love to see the two drivers head to head in equal equipment. That's the only way of judging them in comparison to each other. And I could see a bit of petulance surfacing, and that's always fun. I wonder what the odds would be? (See special dedicated betting thread for details.)

At McLaren we saw how Alonso reacted when he thought he was being treated like a number 2 driver. He has matured immeasurably since then but how long could he keep his cool?
Vettel is still young and has Schumacher's records in his sights, so the prospect of Alonso or Kimi driving the same car will be making him twitchy.
Lastly, Alonso was quoted as saying that he thinks Vettel is a class below Hamilton in terms of talent, whereas Kimi is mates with him off track they even play badminton together.

My own humble opinion is that it will be either Kimi, Kimi, or Kimi.
Ricciardo just doesn't cut the mustard in the senior car just yet & the team will be looking at one thing only. The constructors championship.
That is what makes them money at the end of the day & they are a business.
On top of that, if Seb has any say. Have you ebver seen the pair of them not chatting away when they are together.

Sebastian's said that he would rather have Kimi, than Fernando, as a teammate, so I've automatically updated my hopes from Kimi to Fernando.

Kimi's already been paid for a year that he didn't do at Ferrari so if he does go back there, I think he'll be on a lower wage this time, but that'll probably be more than he gets at Lotus and at least Ferrari can actually afford to pay him.

I think Ricciardo will get it, as much as I'd love the thought of Fred or Kimi getting it, I just don't see them upsetting Fingers, he's delivering race after race, year after year, he's given them another couple of years contract - why piss him off by putting one of his big rivals next to him.

There's no question mark on his ability. He has 3 titles already and is well on his way to number 4.He's had the best car for large parts of those title wins, but so did Senna, Fangio, Prost, Schumacher, Stewart, Alonso and most of the multiple champions.
The only people that question his ability seem to be those on internet forums who have someone else as their chosen favourite.
