I went to Spa last year for my first F1 experience. We decided to do it on a budget and went for the General Admission weekend tickets, offering great viewing from the DRS straight just after Eau Rouge and the big tele.

Going again this year but looking for a campsite, or even an area, close to the circuit.

I camped at the F1camping site last year, which wasn't the worst experience, good Saturday night entertainment etc etc. Only problem was the coach timing, it seems to favour those with Grandstand tickets for race day. We ended up leaving at 6am to get a good space at the track Sunday morning. So looking for some advice on places closer. Ive heard that the good people of Spa let out there grounds for campers this weekend but haven't had any luck on the internet finding these places.

Any info is great, thanks

Last year we just turned up and picked the campsite closest to the track, loads of space left (on Thursday).

5 mins walk and we were at the gates showing the tickets.

Cheers for the replies. Last year I seen loads of "campsites" beside the track which would be ideal. We are arriving Friday around 1300, think there will be many spaces left? And what's the cost for just showing up if anyone knows?

That would be brilliant, i actually work in Germany but my mate is flying into Hannover early friday morning and we are just driving through from there. Don't mind the long walks to the toilets etc, beats the horrendous drive from the F1camping site

Yea weve stayed with F1 camping there the last 2 years, But we take the car as its not far from the circuit! Just a pain when the grass is chopped up on the entry and exit of the campsite with a rwd car! Luckily they put hay down so we could get out! But id say taking the car is the best option and parking near the circuit campsite.

Camping tips ?. . . don't ! ! it rains in Belgium , a lot. . . and you will be surrounded by noisy drunken Germans with no concept of the idea of sleeping (even a little )

But. . . whatever you fancy, anyhow, enjoy the race & (several of the) Belgian Beers beerdrink

Any issues with parking on race day? I don't mind walking.

Can't decide between camping (F1camping.com) or staying at a comfy hotel elsewhere in Belgium, and just driving in on race day.

I have a RWD car if that makes any difference.

I stayed at f1camping last year, the Saturday night entertainment was good, with Jake Humphries and Eddie Jordan chatting for about an hour. Was good.

The weather wasn't so good on Friday and rear wheel drive certainly couldn't cope with the steap hill on exit. I witnessed some range rovers struggling. And it's also a good 7-8 miles to the track driving, that said, the traffic wasn't bad driving in or out. We left nice and early every morning, around 6am.

We didn't buy parking from any sites, there are loads of fields, and people also rent out their property at the event, so parking was ok. We paid 10euros per day at a field not far from La Source entrance, 400 metre walk. They also had folk camping near, but wasn't sure how to book with them. We managed to get into the green campsite this year, last pitch. Good luck, hope this helped
