Tweeted this morning..I wonder who he is aiming this at? I have my own thoughts and wonder whether a statement of this strenghth is an indication of some movement behind behind the scenes?

In any event, with Mercedes-Benz apparently on the up and thus Vettel having to work even harder, interesting times ahead. Bring it on.
There again, Ferrari's determination to rid themselves of Raikkonen and replace with Alonso a few seasons ago has always been an unexplained enigma to me. That plan has not shaped up nicely at all so far for the team in red.
Sometimes a change is not as good as a rest ... seconds thoughts, maybe it is...
Well, if Alonso wanted to force someone's hand, that might we a way of doing it...but surely only if he had something else lined up?..and his options have just been limited even further...unless he chooses to take a year out and go for Vettel's seat in 2015 or one of the McLaren berths...

He's no longer the red hot item he was prior to joining Ferrari four years ago. I strongly suspect top teams would take a chance on better value elsewhere now. The moment is gone. If that is the case, would he still continue in F1 after leaving Ferrari with a 'lesser' team?
When that open Red Bull seat is finally filled, it will be interesting to see how things then shape up with some drivers with a big query over their future.

We have been told, many times on here, that the sign of a truly great driver is how he performs in cars that are not the class of the field. Has the PH aphoroism been communicated to Alonso in not particularly supportive manner?

Not in the slightest. MG John always takes a view against the mainstream and then always claims to have been right afterwards. For someone to have been so right about so much and yet still has to muck about with Rovers strikes me as not quite scanning correctly, somehow.Have i missed the moment when the fickle winds of internet opinion changed?

the driver who John doesn't rate is the highest paid on the grid and the driver who John rates more highly is actually the lowest paid of the top drivers, with a considerable bonus clause in his remuneration to address his known poor work ethic.
To be fair I've very much warmed to Kimi since his time at Lotus but is still does seem that not many managers are fighting over him.

Is this the same Fernando Alonso who last season produced one of the greatest performances in the history of motorsport, almost winning the championship in a car which at the start of the season was almost undriveable, and was never better than the third fastest on the grid?
