Formula One Tyres
Discussion
What is the latest on these? Did I hear that Michelin has said they could produe tyres for next year?
I'd be pretty irritated if I was Pirelli, you produce tyres that you are asked to, that aren't designed to last as long, to create more pitstops and therefore better racing (well thats the theory!), and then get no chance to test them. You then get everyone complain they dont last long enough, and that you should be replaced!

I believe that Pirelli have contracts in place for most of the teams and Bernie but not the FIA and I am sure they will be the tyre provider in 2014.
Michelin will only come in with 18" tyres and this would cause all the teams designs for the 2014 car to be scrapped and to start again as 18" tyres would mean a complete re design for the 2014 car.Bearing in mind that some teams started to design the 2014 car over a year ago there is simply no time to produce a new car.
The FIA will not choose Michelin as they are well aware that for the first race in 2014 there will be a lorry full of tyres but no Formula 1 cars.
