Hi, my buddy has a Dodge Viper GTS Coupe Final Edition, we both have amateur racing licences (national B) and we are looking to enter it into a race series and I wondered if anyone knew what we could enter it into? Its an 8 Litre V10, about 320BHp/Ton. Thanks!
Britcar ? Of course needs all the race mods neededAnd if you need a reserve driver let me now

To be fair I don't think you'll be able to enter it into any proper circuit racing series without properly kitting it out for racing, which is probably a waste of time unless it's a shed of a car and is having a load of work done!
There are plenty of sprint and hillclimb series which are much less demanding in terms of safety gear, and more than likely classes that will suit it! Worth asking in the Club Racing section.

Wookie is 100% correct - I assumed the car had already been race prepped. There are plenty of sprint and hillclimb series which are much less demanding in terms of safety gear, and more than likely classes that will suit it! Worth asking in the Club Racing section.
If it's still a road car, then it would be an expensive and ill advised route to take to convert it to a race car.
Britcar, http://www.eurosaloons.co.uk/, gt- cup, DDMC sports and saloons
for starters Id have thought
I can put you in touch with a team that ran a viper in British Gt and Gt-cup if thats of any interest

Car won't be used on the road and will be race prepared of course, will check out Britcar
Fair enough! In that case anyone know how GT Cup is doing these days? Not shared driver AFAIK but could share the car across double headers?CSCC Modern Classics? 40 min races for 1 or 2 drivers. Great value entry fees, an annual trip to Spa for 2 x 40 min races and simple regs.
(Assuming car is pre 2000 model year and has standard size and shape bodywork as on the road car and standard aero). Any questions and I'm happy to help.

It does say this on the site though, ...."Some slightly later cars may be allowed at the discretion of the committee if deemed to be in the spirit of the series", as the Viper GTS was really a 90's car made from 96 to 2002 I wondered if it could be allowed as an exception?
This sounds like a better and cheaper place to start than Britcar.

Yes dont underestimate the cost of running in britcar. With the longer races its not something you can do with a couple of mates. you need at least a few crew that know what they are doing and then some others with a bit of common sense who can do what they are told. A hot pit lane for wheel changes and fuel can be a very dangerous place.. even if you not paying the crew you've still got to get them there, feed them, put them up etc etc. and thats before you consider the entry fees, fuel, tyre and consumable cost.
Its great fun but is a big step up from 20 & 4o min sprint races.
If we were running our 1hour spa race this year you could play in that lol, on slicks too. maybe next year

It can be a 2002 made model, as long as its the same type and spec as that made in 1999.
Now I'm not an expert in Vipers but I am assuming its a second generation one of these as built between 1996 and 2002:

If so, it should be eligible as long as it conforms to the other regs we have.
Drop me a PM and I'll give you my mobile and we can chat about it.
