Houston TX motorsport

Going to be in the US for the first half of June. Any ideas for motorsport to see near Houston, TX?

I've been trying for years to sync up US trips with Nascar and more recently F1 but been unsuccessful so far.

Nascar Whelen All-American Series is on in two weekends time but appears to be a lower end of Nascar. Still good to see? Or any other options?

We're off out to Texas Oct/Nov for the GP at Austin. Not much to do in the Houston area, so far as I could gather. I'm calling in at Ferrari of Houston for a look about but otherwise we're just passing through on our way to NOLA. Oh and Hennesey is based near there as well.

It's worth having a look at stuff like LOORS, midgets and the lower stock car classes. Back in 1997 I was staying in a little French Canadian town on my way to Trois Rivieres and came across a little 1/4 mile oval which had racing on in the evening. Lovely little event. Most towns seem to have a couple of drag strips too so might be lucky and find a local meet happening one evening. Or even NHRA - you never know your luck!

We're off to some local drag racing in Dallas while we're there. Can't wait!

There will be drag racing on almost every night in America. The car industry there relies on it.

I actually have a plan to one day fly to America, hire a car in Houston and drive to LA stopping each evening at a small local drag strip to race the hire car.

Would be a nice jaunt...
