You folks may or may not know that my particular motorsport thang is special stage rallying of the gravel variety.

Are there any other rally drivers/co-drivers in PH? If so, what sort of events etc do you do? and do you have any specific plans for 2005?

I for one, am off to Bracknell this evening to get the lowdown on the Subaru Challange with a view to doing this next year.

Changed cars and none of mine are suitable for anything more

I guess it is kinda expensive, I've been forcasting the cost for next year in a subaru and they look quite frightening, that's without even considering any major mechanical woes!

I co-drive and whilst I enjoy driving I don't have much of an urge to jump into the drivers seat as I've got a really good driver and I enjoy the team work. At least we get to share the costs. I might consider a single venue in the old Astra next year, I'll have to see if I can find anyone crazy enough to co-drive for me!

Driver here, and Big Dan is the sack o'spuds

Who knows what 2005 will bring - probably less events than we've done in the past, though. Probably a SV just to shake the car down from it's year out, then a few gravel events we like. Nothing definite as yet, really (car still needs some brakes )

Did quite a bit of the BTRDA this year, enjoyed Wales.

Mostly started out doing the Clipstone and North Yorkshire stuff over the past three years, 2005 might even require a trot to the Isle of Man, although that's assuming the driver can get his head around this 4x4 scooby power. It certainly makes me giggle as he winds in up, mind you, bit of a swine having to run a 32mil restrictor, the poor thing runs out of puff around 5k.

Do you get up around there, Brumster? Ahh.. silly question, I see from your website that you have...Clipstone can be pretty hard on the car can't it? Especially the second run through.

Hello,
I am a navigator in French tout terrain rallies (all terrain). We won class T3B2 in 2003 (racing a Bowler Tomcat 100). Now competing in a 2 litre 4x4 Caze 306; first time out we finished 9th over-all, second event we were 13th (engine trouble). Car is being rebuilt ready for next season.

I'm building a Micra for single venue tarmac rallying at the moment, hope to be out and about for spring next year. Can't afford to prep the car for gravel yet, so starting on the black stuff.
The Prodrive "clubmans" car looks good value.
Good luck for 2005.

The Micra can go quite well on gravel, had a few good scraps with a blue one driven by a chap called Gareth Clarke although we won on the basis of pure unadulterated lunacy...I get the feeling I need some voice coaching so I can speak faster.

Don't know whether we can continue our success in the scooby, but the Astra did us proud by winning us the East Mids championship for the past two years running and an adequate finish in the Silkolene 1400. We'll just have to see.

The BTRDA English gravel championship looks as though it could be interesting due to the exclusion of WR cars and A8 beasts, it's always a downer getting your arse kicked by a runaway cheque book

Hi TeamD

Yeah, I like rallying too. But have only done club events, such as 12 Car's and the odd road rally. Some of my mates within the Motor Club have done some Single venue events on sealed surfaces. When I marshall in future I'll keep an eye out for you. Better buy some stickers from Ted so we can all spot you easier.Good Luck for next year.

i was to be co-driving in the bmw challenge next year, but a small sporting injury has effectively cancelled 2005.

i'll be servicing for the guy instead. otherwise i do the odd single venue in a 2.3 chevette (being re-shelled in January) and am building a swift gti for enduro type events, which will be driven by someone else next year.

I shall do, once the scooby has been resprayed. I'll update the picture on my profile to reflect the change of car and colour.

Not driving or navigating but part of the mechanics team for my brother for next year. Racing a mk2 escort, first event will be Snowman Rally in February and depending how that goes, a few more scottish championship rounds.

Never done a scottish event, bit of a trek from the East Mids. Mind you, may have to hoof it over to the Ilse of Man this year, so I guess there probably isn't much difference in time taken!

Only just joined PH after lurking for a couple of months.

Good to see some fellow rally fans/drivers on here.

I used to do some Historic rounds with my old man co-driving. Huge fan of the Welsh forests which is the home of rallying for me. Currently re-shelling the car into a LHD shell with new engine etc. It will be a long process though as and when time and money allow.

Have been mainly co-driving and marshalling this year, but everyone I sat with we have ended up going off. A lot. All good fun though.

I am currently working for a rally team here in North Wales so that helps me get through the withdrawl symptoms.

I used to do Road Rallys in the dim & distant past of my youth!

Did a few 'Motoring News' events (if anyone is old enough to remember these) among others.

I managed to fall off the side of a hill some where in the vicinity of Mt Olympus back in 1987. Sure wish I finished that rally...

sb-1, what MN events did you do?

I do a lot of road rallying, mostly on the maps but occasionally behind the wheel (see pic in profile!). Events in Wales still get full entries, although limited to 75 rather than 100+ as was the trend in the '80s!

Also new to PH, its great to see some rally chat. After a couple of years forced break, we are back out this year. I will be the sack o spuds, I seem best at this bit. We've just bought a Mazda 323 4x4 Turbo, mainly grp N, but with some grp A bits added, has about 210bhp. Its a great cheap way to go 4x4 rallying, we won't beat the scooby's but the car is about 1/3rd the price of a good one.

Current plans are Rally of Kent in March, quickly followed by Humberside (as long as the car is ok) then some BTRDA stuff, Dukeries, Quniton etc.

I can't wait, lovel a bit of forest rallying but have had to have a break due to real life taking over, although my 4 year old daughter seems to have an interest in rallying...hmmm
