Hiya

Having watched a load of YouTube clips I'm quite keen to go to a Hill-climb event (non-Goodwood) and non classic. Are there any such events in or around South West London / Surrey area? Only thing a Google search comes up with is Shere which seems to be classic only?

I'm thinking something along the lines of the Swiss / German things I see on YouTube with open wheeled cars / Ex DTM etc vehicles?

Cheers in advance

The continentals have an advantage in having actual mountain roads they can use for their events.

Hopefully the new UK legislation for racing on public roads will see the creation of an event that has a long run up a steep part of Wales or Scotland.

Anyway, back to the original question... Gurston Down near Salisbury is the closest decent hillclimb to the south east.

I used to go to Hurston down and had a great time watching but if the weathers bad expect to have a bad day.

There is normally a once yearly sprint at Crystal Palace in May. Hopefully it will run again next year...

Yes this is technically a hillclimb, the finish is several meters higher than the start!! We run this from Sevenoaks & District Motor Club, and I have not anything on the contrary that it will run in 2015. PM me if you want more info. There are no real other hilclimbs in the South East since Valence in Westerham finished, but there are Sprints and tarmac Autosolo's which happen in the south east, again PM if you want more details.

You're going to have to travel a bit methinks. Prescott, Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park next year are your best bets to see the big guns.
