Re the 919, I'm probably mistaken here (never having studied it), but I thought the point of a drag coefficient was that you multiplied it by the frontal area to get drag, so reducing the area doesn't in itself affect the coefficient? I'm probably being way too pedantic for my own good.

That's the way I understand it also. Reducing the frontal area reduced drag, but may not (or may) affect the drag coefficient.
